High School We've Got Spirit!...no We Don't.

My sports' teams fans do NOT have a problem with spirit in any way shape or form. They start their own cheers (they even came up with one once), they are loud, they're enthusiastic, and they're rowdy. It's a great environment. The Herd (our student section in basketball season) always comes up with their own dress up days and get into it. We don't have a football student section per se, but our crowd gets really into it so it's a lot of fun.

We were thinking about having a pep rally convocation that students could attend during school. We know that kids would easily pay a buck to leave class 30 mins or so early, and our principal is really awesome and would support it. What are some great pep rally ideas for an un-spirited school? (around homecoming time?)
We didn't do it for homecoming, but on the Friday of our schools game against our rival school we have a pep rally and we do like little games. Like last year they made a big sign that said "Let's beat the fliers" or just something simple like that, and before the pep rally sometime they cut it up and made it into a puzzle and had some students come down and put the pieces together. We also have chants that we do at pep rallies and our middle school usually comes over for the rivalry one. And we split the gym up into four parts and do a "Let's go big red" chant and each of the four groups has their own word to yell when it's their turn... We also have class chants that we do. For your game day situation, do simple chants the crowd can do. If you have poms and signs, use those to maybe drawn attention to yourselves. When chanting, us fillers (let's hear it, c'mon, get louder, ect.). Maybe through t-shirts at a game or two or maybe even some mini footballs with your teams mascot and name on them.

I hope this helps! :)
