We like to be efficient on our CPs teams, she was on a mini 2 with a different gym and in one of the transitions a girl did a front walkover to her spot at the front of the mat....well, in her front walkover I guess she had a good heel drive because her shoe came off mid-walkover and flew through the air....right at the judges table. The coach jumped off the ground to try and make a "home run spoiler" save at the wall and caught it.I know I shouldn't laugh but the thought of them flinging the shoe off the stage and it almost actually hitting the judges is hysterical.
Every gym needs to do this. I remember at my older cp's very first comp ever (she was 8) half the pyramid did not go up and one of the more experienced girls on the team had them wait until they got back on count to continue rather than trying to get it back up. They finished 4th out of 7 and I will never forget that. Thanks guys! Over the years all of these things have happened so about 5 years ago I started doing this. It really helps!

This sounds like something that should be practiced at all gyms!!! At my old gym, people were always frazzled when something like that would happen, whether at practice or at competition, and at practices they would just not continue on in the stunt and I'm standing there like we could have still finished that stunt!! If I remember, I will bring this up at my gym, thanks!!We do! We practice "recovery" with different kinds of typical disaster scenarios.
What if you fall in this part of the stunt? (What is the next part where you can get back into it)
What if the music stops or skips? (we will turn off the music randomly on occasion just to make sure they keep going)
What if there's a shoe or bow on the floor? (ignore it until you're close enough to get it out of the way)
What if someone gets injured? (keep going until we stop the performance if it's serious)
What if you get lost/forget where you're going? (move to the side and take a look at your teammates or look to the coaches)
What if you forget the dance? (go nugget behind everyone else)
What if YOU get injured? (we treat this like a car crash--if you can, pull over and get to the side and wait for help. If you're truly disabled stay where you are and we will get to you quickly).
Sometimes we have a total disaster practice and just do nothing but crazy stuff all night (secretly have someone be "injured", etc). The girls love disaster training. I love it because it arms them with knowledge for even the worst mistakes and they are prepared for pretty much anything and everything.

basically .. it a nutshell all you need to know
I have an idea for a thread! (not to hijack this one...)You can always do what Kiara did at one comp, her bow flew off during a tumbling pass and she caught it, while tumbling, and kept going.

Chuck Norris quotes, but with Kiara instead of Chuck! :D
