All-Star What Gym...? Needs Advice

Personally, I got more out of my 4 years of college cheerleading and other extracurricular things than I did of my 4 years of actual college course work. But I didn't really choose the most employable of majors (art and psychology) but I do the majority of the design work at my gym which is putting the art major to some use :)

If I had it to do over again, I would have gone more of a business and/or physical therapy/athletic trainer route with the formal education

Personally, I think UGA and Rays are far from each other.
UGA is in Athens and Rays is in Marietta/Cobb
Kennesaw I think is closer to Rays?

If distance isn't a problem, then UGA's an amazing school and you should definitely consider it!

I would recommend my alma mater, but our cheer isn't so hot. But if you are looking for low college debt (we were 3,000 a year tuition when I went) with the best engineering school in the country look no farther than Georgia Tech! We boast a great ratio for females (80% male school! The odds are good ladies... but the goods are kinda odd), a winning football team (winning a few years ago), the hopping social area of downtown Atlanta (can we say $9 a drink!), and rare free Friday or Saturday nights because you are too busy studying and trying not to fail out (they sit you down on the day of orientation and tell you to look left and right and only one of the three of you will graduate. i was the only one of my 3 too). It is nerd heaven, hah.

Seriously on the debt thing, UGA average debt for graduating freshman - 15k. U of L, 17k, SDSU - 14k. That is average of how much someone owes (not even being from out of state). So really knowing what you want to do and invest in does matter. I always loved the saying, you know the last person to get a job with their sociology degree? Your sociology professor.

yeah, if you can't pay off your loans in 4 years of an entry level salary for your major then you might should major in something else, or just get into coaching at a gym and do school part time in something that will help with that, if you are wanting to stay in the cheer industry

If you were to choose San Diego State, you'd probably cheer at California All Stars' San Marcos location. It's about 33 miles form SDSU to Cali. The drive is not too bad, about 40 minutes, unless it's high traffic time during the week, then it's horrible the last half of the drive. Expect at least an hour commute. You'd also need a car to make that drive, unless there's someone close who could give you a ride.

If you really want to cheer at Cali, look into California State University, San Marcos. It's an up and coming university that is very close to the Cali gym.

CheerForce San Diego is about 10 miles from SDSU and there is a trolley that goes from the school to about a half mile from their gym.

Good luck with your choice! It's a very exciting time for you!!

Which Cali gym are the Int teams run out of?
