All-Star What Type Of Mom/dad Do You Like To See At Competitions?

The humble mom and dad are my favorites. Those who might think that their child is the best cheerleader on the planet but have no desire to tell you about it. I don't like parents who brag about how great their child or team is. They know they are blessed and fortunate to have the opportunities to cheer and compete without having to slam some skill or victory in your face.

I always found it so funny to hear cheer moms brag about the skill of their child at college tryouts only to see that child in action. I can't tell you how many times I have wanted to say, "This isn't All Star anymore. This is college. This is Kentucky. This is the best program in the world. So don't come talking about how great your child is/was in All Star. We do our nationals routine on a hard floor, not spring floor. We single base stunt here. If you are here, be humble about it and grateful for the opportunity. Ok, pumpkin?"

I like parents who have a clue about what's going on on the floor and take their highlighted, check-marked schedule so we can periodically get updates as needed! But then, I also ike the parents whose child is a beast 9-year-old with a 1 to double and competition day just means "Dippin Dots," to them - no pressure!

I admit it...I'm a highlighter but I also love me some dippin dots;)

So agree! Really supportive cheer dads seem rare so to actually see one is really exciting and they can be super motivational!

"Rare" like an endangered species that should be protected, like. . . .SHARKS!

So I guess supportive cheer dads with a flask in their backpacks are REALLY cool?

I love sitting near parents from other teams and talking cheer with them:) What I don't like is the psycho seat saving parents....Hello the only thing that has been in that seat for the past hour is your jacket! Really?!?:banghead:

I like the cheer mom who has the huge purse that has EVERYTHING in it. Whether it be socks, braces, toothpaste, gum etc. They are literally life savers. Even better, a cheer dad with a fanny pack that holds everything lol

A fanny pack with a flask would be the peak of coolness..lol;)

Maybe we should design one with your teams colors and rhine stones. Set up alittle stand at competitions, we would make a ton of money. Of course those flasks are to hold gatorade;)

I like the "middle mom" who knows the sport but is just there to enjoy the cheer weekend and do what her child needs. The cheer mom who goes to the competition at 8 in the morning to get good seats for the level 5 teams that don't start until 5 at night. Who, mid-day, leaves her son to save the seats while she searches the convention center for an outlet that no one's using so she can curl her daughter's hair. Who literally takes notes on her child's divisions so that when she's asked how a team did she's ready to report. Who takes the alumni who are too old to cheer on a senior team to places like Jamfest Super Nationals and Battle at the Capitol and has a blast with them for the weekend like they're one of her kids. Who stays until the last team gets off the mat and then goes to dinner and doesn't get back to the hotel room until midnight, all the while knowing that she was going to have to do it all over again the next day. Who tells it like it is but is there to support her child no matter what. I love my cheer mom.

And I love cheer dads! ...well, for the most part.

Fanny packs are not cool. Backpack holds all the tape, etc, iPad or whatever you prefer, and it's not uncool to have cheer bows on it if someone happened to give them to you. (plus you can have your fierce bows on there without anyone noticing)
