Queensland was announced as 7th place during awards. They should have placed 5th.

Well that sounds horrible. I finally got around to reading ranks and I was pleasantly surprised to see teams from England and Australia globe! I’ll probably watch performances next week when i’m less busy.

They are purchased. We had the option of buying our NCA ring. I'm kinda sad I passed on that, but it was around $400.

so i’m seeing there was another tie in l5 senior open for third and they did use the tie breaker. which brings up the question again (that i know will never be answered) why did they not do it for LIOC5 ??? that is so beyond frustrating on top of all the other mistakes that were made this weekend.

It could be that IASF and USASF have different rules? But I was not able to find any documentation if that is so.

The difference between USASF and IASF is the only thing I can think of too...I’ve searched as well with no luck but it would be nice to know!

I actually don’t mind comparative scoring, but USASF and IASF needs to re-evaluate how they score the execution component.

And the difficulty component. I saw a globe-winning team score over a point lower in running tumbling difficulty than another globe-winning team that clearly had lesser tumbling. If the scoring system can't even properly acknowledge when one team clearly has more tumbling difficulty than another, then something's wrong. There's no such thing as a perfect scoring system, but there shouldn't be glaring scoring mistakes. In other judged sports like gymnastics or diving, if an athlete's difficulty value is scored incorrectly, there would be uproar. Cheerleading can't be as exact in assigning difficulty scores because it's a team sport with lots of different skills being attempted by various numbers of athletes, but the numbers should at least be in the proper ballpark.

One thing I do like about the Worlds scoresheet compared to the Varsity one is that there at least seemed to be some separation in scores between good and great teams. Too often on Varsity scoresheets teams are separated by minuscule decimal points when in reality the gap should be greater.

I really dislike that they charge for rings. Like, I worked this hard and now you’re going to charge me for my reward? Kind of tacky. Plus the money it takes just to get yourself trained and dressed and to Worlds is exhorbitant by itself. And now they want $400 more dollars because some of these kids had the nerve to actually win? Ew.

I know it’s not conceivable to just throw the rings around free of charge, but... it should be. How much money are they pulling in from EVERYONE’S comp fees alone? You can’t toss a few bucks toward a fraction of those kids to give them something nice after they’ve literally spent THOUSANDS to get to that point in their lives? Ridiculous.

^^World’s rings are “free” to winners (I mean, you’re paying with all the fees and stuff to GET to Worlds but no direct cost.) Summit rings are also “free.” The NCA rings are not the prize for winning NCA...the blingy jackets are...the ring is just an extra memento if you want it.

These are extra items being ordered by parents for the athletes, that is the "they" you are talking about. It is very hard to tell your child no when you know that everyone or almost everyone else is also ordering one. I knew mine wouldn't wear it past the first month if that, and that is exactly what happened.

The Worlds rings are "free" as mentioned above. The kids are sized after they win and then the rings are delivered to the gym a few months after. Free until it has to be replaced because it was lost on the slip and slide at prom house but that is another story.
