well i just dont understand how another team would have an advantage? a higher level athlete can only perform level 2 skills in a level 2 routine! everyone follows the same rules, theres no special rule if you have higher skills than the level team your on. at our gym we have crossovers to our level 2 to other higher level teams and there really isnt a problem with it? no, we didnt make the level 2 team just to win. but when you make up a level 2 team just to win, yeah its kind of dumb. but its not like its a level 3 team going against a level 2? its all the same level...

execution scores. throw in a girl who has been doing backhand springs for years and can tumble her butt off and put her against a girl who's competing her bhs for the first time. of course there's a difference. a level five stunter vs a level two. c'mon.

Most level 3,4,5 athletes will have better backhandsprings then a level 2 athlete. Also if the majority of the athletes are higher then a level 2 athlete then there is no reason that they couldn't have done atleast a level 3 routine. Even then a worlds athlete has no reason to be on a level 2 or 3 team.

How would people react if Maddie Gardner competed on a level 1 or 2 team at CEA?

trust me i know. we have kids in our gym who cross down for a level 4 to a level 2, because they enjoy doing crossovers or whatever. but all i was saying is its that same rules..i know i am on a level 2 and i can stunt at level 4/5. but, theyre not "scamming" or anything..i mean if a team just does it to win, yeah i guess whats dumb like i said. but if its just a level 2 who was made like any other team, then i dont see a problem...

My take...someone said that just because you have a level 5 flyer doesnt mean you are sandbagging, etc.... Well as you progress in skills and levels your body gets stronger and executes at a different 'level'. A lvl 5 flyer is going to be stronger in her core that a true level 2 flyer who hasnt learned to fly at an extended level yet. A lot not all but a lot of level 2 flyers still depend on their backspot to hold them up.

A lvl 3 tumbler is stronger than a true level 2 tumbler because at level 2, you aren't working on a BHS series, which is a lvl 3 skill, which makes for a stronger tumbler.

As kids progress their bodies get stronger so I don't believe that having 'a few' lvl 3-5 kids on a J2 team doesn't give that team an advantage. JMO

yeah, i totally get what your saying. right, i dont know why it couldnt of been a level 3 team. im just saying a general statement, its the same rules. sure, the technique will be better in a higher level athlete. but im all trying to say is that its level 2 across the board...

yes i agree with you. i know that the higher level the stronger/better the athlete. espically when competing at a lower level. i was just trying to say that its the same rules for everyone! we have a girl who is junior 2 and senior 3 and 4 and yes she is an amazing tumbler and you can tell shes a higher level athlete, but she can only perform level 2 skills.

also, with this whole fight or whatever is going on..im not picking sides or saying whos right and wrong, i just wanted to give my opinion...

Triple Post...

yes i agree with you on that side on how higher level athletes may have better technique or have already perfected the skills. i was just simply trying to say a level 2 athlete who is on a level 5 team can only do level 2 on a level 2. yes, their stunting/tumbling skills may be better.

I tried, I really did. But I just can't resist.....

that's understood. that's why most people have no problem with small gyms with crossovers, we understand that it's needed. heck, my own gym has crossovers, almost every gym does.

i think the point everyones trying to make is that its easier for other levels to do a level 2 routine and the exacution would most likely be better for someone that has been throwing this skill for a long time then someone who just got a skill and hasent had time to perfect it

my gym has under 100 athletes. we have 4 teams. 4 out of the 3 are large teams, levels 2,3 and 4. so yes, we have crossovers too! trust me i know that a level 5 athlete who is on a 2 is better than a level2 whos on a 2!
