Will they post the full coverage on youtube? I was busy with work AND there's the time difference so I wasn't able to catch up
Depending on where you're located, you may or may not have viewing access to F.I.G.s live streaming and full replays:
FIG Channel - YouTube

If you do not have access, it means an alternative broadcast has already been set-up (either through local TV, website or YouTube channel like USA Gymnastics) and will be aired either live or at a later date for replays.

Those L turns are very hard. Beam can be a heartbreaker - it's one of those things where you can have a really good day or a really bad day no matter how hard you work or how amazing you are. It also gets very contagious to the rest of the team whenever the athelets who go before them fall.

Very similar to stunt falls and hits in a cheer routine - where the flyer who never falls goes down and then the next thing you know 2 or 3 more stunts fall in a usually consistent routine.

Some gymnastics cosches will put their most consistent atheltes (not necessarily the highest scorers, but the ones who never fall) up first on beam in the line-up, when usually the order on the other events is weakest to strongest. They do it to prevent the entire team falling or watering down their routines out of fear - my CP once was involved in a rotation where this happened to her entire team - almost everyone fell and the ones that didn't really underperformed cause they were so afraid (boy was the practice after that meet ugly :/).

Russia needed to hit their beams to do well, and it just wasn't a good day for them - they still all had a beautiful style if you ignore the falls and I love watching them.

Komova's tweet was inappropriate of course, but I just chalk it up to them not having as much PR training as we do. At least she didn't call people "haters" or "snacks in the grass". Haha.

I still feel so bad for Romania - I follow Catalina Ponor on Twitter and she hasn't tweeted anything at all since before the qualifications when she usually tweets all the time. The team really could have used her, but she wouldn't have helped them on bars even if she did go and that was their biggest meltdown. I really hope they get their "bid" ;) to Rio at that event in April and do well at the games.

Oh yeah, I have no doubt that those L turns are difficult... but from podium training to TF on beams, I've notice the Russians struggle with that element. They either end up falling or, if they do stay on, throws their game off and potentially leading to a fall later on. Perhaps they could swap it out with a different turn?

The thing was it wasn't even a tweet, it was a comment on a post on some Russian "social" media website thingie... I was skeptical at first because there are just too many anonymous social media accounts that impersonate well-known individuals, but her apology basically confirmed that it was her. I feel like this advice applies to cheerleaders as well, stay off social media for the duration of your competition if you're susceptible to allowing your emotions consume you. You really REALLY wouldn't want the world to document how you felt during a particular point in time; because once it's out there, it stays there and no apology will suffice.

And I know what you mean, I follow Ponor on Instagram and she hasn't posted anything since day 1 of qualifications when she usually posts quite often. I suppose a break from social media will help as she continues to lift the spirit of the team.

Louis Smith you FOUGHT for that pommel horse! Side note: is the Hypolito on Brazil related to the female Hypolito?

Komova also talked about how Great britain received hometown bias and the chinese team received favoritism from the judges:confused:

Komova needs to keep both her feet and hands on her events before she runs her mouth about 'favoritism.'

Also that Chinese gymnast who went out of bounds pulled off the lowest flip I've ever seen.

im way behind in all of this, but why did the usa only compete with 5 women compared to everyone else showing 6 members. even though technically the 6th person didnt compete at all. Or is that the alternate.

i was just scrolling through team final scores and noticed this.

The only event Brenna Dowell would've competed in team finals was bars, and she was a disaster in qualifying.

Do any men like pommel horse? It seems like it's one of those events that always scores low and nobody likes. It's just about getting through it in one piece.

That's just been broadcast here, gah I love him! Still heartbroken he didn't scoop Gold in 2012

On another note, I don't follow gymnastics as much but the US mens team look good. After reading this thread I was expecting the worst haha.

THIS. If I remember correctly he lost on execution right? Still bitter. Will also never get over how close Beth was to bars gold too, think it came down to her landing.

I agree, the US are looking great! Hoping our men can do repeat of the women yesterday though, saw on twitter they had a great vault rotation!

Don't! I wanted it for her so bad but she was soooooo pleased I couldn't be mad!

Funnily enough my lad's lad of an ex watched the Pommel Horse final with me and agreed with the result. Claimed the other guy who's name escapes me was cleaner. [emoji23]
