So after 7 subdivisions of men's qualifications it's safe to say that it's been rather disastrous across the board... Zonderland is out of horizontal bar finals, that's 3 individual apparatus champions from last year out of the finals for the respective events they won in. Overall, every country scored significantly lower than they did during last year's qualifications round except for Brazil (who have held themselves so well so far), South Korea and Switzerland.

Having said all of that, I'm thoroughly impressed by Leyva though, he pulled through fairly well (exceptional on horizontal bars) across all events and is now sitting in 4th going into individual all-around finals. Also, these (almost done, just one subdivision to go but I doubt they'll shake things at the top) final standings just confirmed what I feared for the Germans - they've been edged out finals. No individual all-around finals for them either (ETA: I forgot to factor in the "two per country" rule, so there's still hope but Hambuechen's on the bubble with one more subdivision to go), I'll have to check if any of their athletes have qualified for apparatus finals though... but either way, very poor performance by the Germans this time round; I feel gutted for them.

Finals are to come... we'll have to hope for the best and see how that goes, because anything can happen during finals.

I just watched Danell Leyva's horizontal- remember when he was the US's hot contender for AA champ? Glad to see him back in and doing well. I'd forgotten how much of his horizontal routine I had memorized..I watched it and knew what was coming a hot second before it happened :D SO bummed about Zonderland, his HB is to DIE for. Uchimura out too. Jeez, this is one DISASTROUS Worlds? Anybody know if something wasn't set properly? A problem with the floor? Maybe everything is at a weird angle? Like that Olympics where Khorkina sat on her vault?

Also US men should just scratch pommel every time. We SUCK at it.

Also also- I realized why Maddie Kocian looks like a young Nastia to me- she trains at WOGA.

Uchimura isn't out (this would be tragic beyond words), he just had a fall on floor which was as uncharacteristic of him... his qualification score for all-around is also significantly lower than last year.

ETA: With men's events, because some of these guys have such insane D-scores (7.1 and above) the risk of fumbling up is a lot higher... but when they do hit, people like Zonderland look spectacular. No Flying Dutchman this time round. [emoji53]

Also, I'm surprised no one brought up team Great Britain's leotards... the region where the solid fabric and mesh meet is just a little too close for comfort:

The uniforms Canada wore for qualifiers may be one of my favorites. They were beautiful.

agreed. I hate that they've taken on pink as their color in international meets. In part because pink is my least favorite color and part because it's the least patriotic color out there.

Lined or not, the illusion is a little too racy. I hope no gyms see those and get any ideas.

I think that "lining" is just the girls' nude colored sports bras (judging by tall middle girl having the clear plastic shoulder straps)... which is even more alarming that they didn't line this top. the three in the middle would absolutely be showing nipple if they didn't have a bra on. why is that an illusion anyone would want to create?

The Women typically do pink for podium training/qualifications. Red for Team Finals. And then the girls pick for event finals, but it usually ends up being some shade of pink lol. I wish they would use more blue, purple, or black leotards for event finals. I don't really pink leos, but I wish they had some more patriotic ones or at least mixed it up a little bit. The leo designs themselves are often super pretty, but the pink color will ruin it for me haha
