Check your splits. You might be cheating in some way, shape, or form. Is your back leg turned out? If so, get your hips squared. Point your feet. Also, get down in your split. First sit with your hand supporting you for 10 seconds. Put your arms up for 20, bend forward and grab for front leg for 10, bend back and try to grab the back leg for 10. These split stretches are very helpful. You might want to work on getting your middle split as well.

If you have the splits down perfect, start spending lots of time holding the positions over & over again. You can use the elastic bands (tie on to the foot you lift and the ankle you stand on) for resistance. You can also put light weights on the leg you lift.

Try standing nice and tall and pulling everything up when you're doing them. If you slouch you are more likely to bend your knee.
