If my girls cell phones ring in the middle of practice I get to answer it. If a text alert goes off I get to read it out loud.
Needless to say, most of my girls silence their before practice. =)

I only answered one this year, most of the learned to turn them off. And actually, it was a senior cheerleader who was getting a call from a girl who had graduated but cheered with us the year before. It was a nice little catch up for us. Plus she understood, and was so embarrassed when I said, "Alex is in practice now...she'll have to call you back!" =)In the past it was my rule and every season that I had one girl, she would tell everyone "She answers phones, they better go on silent!".. now I coach in an environment where I am not the "boss" and well, I got in trouble by the head coach and so I don't answer them, but as soon as one goes off I know who it is b/c they get anxious to answer it, and I tell them it can wait... but answering them solved the problem VERY fast!
