I personally hate when you double out of 2 of the same body positions, if you doubled 6 from it with double 5 or 4 of the same thing.(That's a small team)

I've been mentally compiling this list for a long time now...
  • fake cheer hair (not so common in all stars anymore, but a lot of Pop Warner teams still wear them)
  • over-the-top, crazy makeup (it's nice to wear a little sparkle and shimmer, but please keep in mind that you're an athlete, not a clown!)
  • unflattering/uncomfortable uniforms (gym owners and coaches, PLEASE think about ALL of your athletes when designing a uni!)
  • crazy back cutouts in uniforms (how in the world can bigger busted girls get the support they need when their uniform doesn't allow a sports bra or only allows something flimsy enough to be held up with small, clear straps?)
  • badly mixed or poor-quality music
  • when a team takes a MILLION YEARS to get ready for their routine after being called out onto the floor
  • poor use of space on the mat (I see this a lot of the time with younger teams that have very few participants... those kids are spaced way too far apart and totally throw off the routine for me)
  • inflexible flyers
  • heel stretches that are pulled after reaching down and grabbing the foot
  • flexed feet in just about anything
  • jumps that are so hyper-extended that they're off in timing with the rest of the team
  • when a stunt group gives up (a lot of the time, a stunt can be saved; I want to see you WORK FOR IT!)
  • uneven (height-wise) stunt groups that mirror each other in pyramids
  • double bouncing
  • sloppy kick double baskets
  • tumblers that let their shoulders go first instead of their arms in back walkovers
  • tumblers that do not clean toward the crowd at the end of their pass
That's it for now, though I'm sure more will come to me.

-I just hate when people act like they are always right whether it is about a stunt, tumbling pass, make-up, or hair.
- People who don't try at practice
- sloppy jumps

People who don't do their best, and come off stage with their faces tripping them, after working backstage at nationals, I can safely say that the judges hate it too. Finish when you started and run off beaming, then you can throw as many tantrums as you like. Kay?:]

When I get looked at funny for being the only dad watching practice. :)

Not sure where your CP cheers at, but over time, people should respect you as the less-common dad who supports your child in this sport. Many never set foot in the gym and I know plenty who don't respect the sport enough to watch a competition.

PM me if you want any support or contact with the other active dads I know.

Shimmy.

- bad music
- non-flexible flyers
- bent legs in back hansprings
- people who dont smile while on the mats
- when girls walk around competitions in pjs, uggs, sandals/flip flops, and unzipped uniforms
- routines with too many pauses (gets boring)
- routines that have tumbling lines that are ment for a lower level (same goes for stunts)

Hey Cheer Dads,
From a gym owner, I can't tell you how much I appreciate fathers's supporting their athletes in the gym. My dad was always my #1 fan, supporting me at every practice when I cheered on all stars in middle and high school, and then in college. When I look back on my cheer career, it's because of his support that I excelled. He passed away last year, but I will never forget the dedication and love he had for me, and his respect for our sport. So here's to you, guys....thank you for always being there for your kids!!!
