Wow! I do NOT understand how an owner doesn't step in at some point and say that is not condoned in the program by athletes so it shouldn't be acceptable for a coach to do it. Disgusted
I don't understand why the comment was necessary. I can't think of a gym that wouldn't think they are the best in their area/state ect. Of course you think your program is the best, that's why you're there. It's just classless and tacky to post a comment like that. When kids make stupid comments, as much as I disagree and hate it, you chalk it up to being a kid. He's an adult, who should know better. His athletes will follow his lead.

I think at this point they just don't care what they do on social media. If the owners and coaches don't care then the athletes won't care either and we're going to keep seeing rude tweets and comments. I used to get so frustrated as a coach when my athletes posted drinking pictures as it was underage. They got talked to a few times but as a coach I can't decide to kick off an athlete so I would mention it and whatever the program manager or owner decided to do was their business. I stopped following certain athletes on twitter so that I wouldn't see it. If there parents knew about it I certainly wasn't going to concern myself unless it directly hindered a practice.

I have witnessed firsthand coaches being rude on twitter from my own gym. I just wish people would have the decency to either say it to your face, not at all, or keep it off social media. It's just plain rude and classless.

I wish I could win the lottery and open my own gym lol...sigh maybe one day :P

Met 3 awesome/super friendly CALI mamas/grandma today and one very rude mama that was booing my CP's team, not going to let one CALI mama overshadow how sweet and kind the rest of the CALI people we met today were!
On another note, is it norm for people to boo other teams? I personally clap and cheer all teams, even if we are competing against them :) don't feel like I should be teaching my CP to be unkind like that.

No, most athletes are taught by their coaches to clap and cheer for other teams not to boo. There are some though that the parents even boo so the kids just do the same thing. Most coaches don't really tolerate that kind of lack of showmanship behaviour.

you can still be rivals, compete against each other, still be friends and take shots at each other...

I saw he liked it...I probably would've too. But there's no need for a dig. Guy is excited about his program and his showcase. Orby's comment was tacky and uncalled for.

I agree it was uncalled for regardless of whether or not they're friends. It just looks bad either way. Also lots of coaches are "friends" but not friends if you know what I mean. Anyway whatever..some people will make excuses for some people no matter what. I get sipping on the cali sparking juice but jeese.

I would have brushed it off if it was kids booing, but to have a grown adult do it, crazy! Oh well, she didn't ruin my view on CALI families, they have all been very kind and friendly with us at comps.

guys take digs on each other. its how they bond and joke around with each other. no need to blow something out of proportion if its not really like that.

orby, get in here and settle this. :p

This made me sad :(

I think it's good to note that these are actually separate statuses and not a string of comments on one post like I first thought. I think that makes it less likely that it was just good natured joking around. If it was just a joke between friends, he probably would have left it as a comment as opposed to a vague facebook post.

I didn't know that! I thought the comment had been removed. Good to know.
