If anyone is having trouble holing curls is their hair try the " Pump It Up Spritz" its like an ethnic hairspray. But its stronger than hairspray and you dont need as much of it. 1/2 up 1/2 own with curls looks amazing on the floor with glitzy uniforms.

Ive used "pump it up" in the past. It works great!!

Foam rollers, in small sections. There is some product that all of the moms buy - that they spray on the hair right before they roll it - it's some sort of setting cream/fluid. It works!

I guess the only rule of thumb about curls is make sure you roll the hair in small sections and roll the hair in the direction that you want the curl!

What is the name of the setting cream/fluid that you use?

This is how I wore my hair for every competition except for Return to Atlantis which was our last competition last season.

Then day 1 for Return to Atlantis, it was this...

The best hairstyle for cheer IMO is when hair is in loose curls half up half down with a poof in front, bow right on top of the head, with no stray hairs flying everywhere. It's pretty and classy!

And dangerous!

I can't express how much i hate bangs down. I hate them. Literally, its one of my pet peeves. I'm not sure why, it just is.
I really love straight ponys with a poof. Its classy and looks good-if everyone knows how to poof. if some girl has one of those janky looking lopsided 1 centimeter off your head things and everyone else has huge ones, it just doesn't work for me. looks bad!
one year we had to do 2 french braids back to a high pony. it was awful.
then one year we had a low pony!
and another year i had a low side pony
another year i had a high side pony
and then there were the cheer curls...:mad:

I like the World Cup Twinkles hair. It's a little immature for for Seniors, but I love it.

I like when teams do half up half down curls and poof, IMO. But thats if everyone has the perfect length of hair; not too short, not too long (tumbling on your hair isn't fun).
But probably the cleanest and best hairstyle would probably be curly pony with poof or braided bangs.

Lol this reminded me of when we had this little girl on our team (shes around 8 or 9) and her hair is down to her butt, and i guess for rec in our state your hair, in a pony, can't go past your shoulders? They had to take her pony tail and pin it to her head like 3 times. I wish i had a picture of it!

anybody remember university cheer air force minis (2003?) when they had a Seuss theme? that was ADORABLE hair!

HOW did they do that?... Some of my parents can hardly manage brushing their daughters hair let alone something like THAT! Otherwise I would totally do something like this!

I'm literally obsessed with it. I wear my hair to practice like that all the time. I love it so much.

Oh lordy...I remember the days of wiglets. (Circa '03?) My dad always teased me and said I had horse hair on my head. SO glad that phase has gone.
At CEA after the wiglet phase, we were supposed to get some other hair piece that was a 'flip pony'. All I remember was they got discontinued before they could follow through with it. So glad. They were also herendous.
We later phased to plain straight ponies, and then to poofs with the pony tail.
At my new gym, we're supposed to do the same, straight pony and a poof. I did my first season with them, and then last year my friend and I decided we were going to curl our ponies for a local regional, and when we won we knew we had to do it for the rest of the season. I found this look to be super cute and I (with my waist length hair) didn't have to worry about my hair getting stuck on my lipstick as I would if it were straight.

My sister did synchro and decided to put some of her gelatin in my hair for my rec exhibition...worst. idea. EVER. You had to use the jaws of life to get the curlers out and the end result was a clump that just sat on top of my head and didn't move at all.
One season, we had to do stick straight half ponies which no one liked since about 98% of the team had past shoulder length hair. If we did well enough on Saturday, we got to wear it all up with a poof on Sunday! It was a very effective motivator. Our mantras that season were "ponytails" and "jackets".

Cp's gym does half up half down curls. She was excited at first because she loved the look but now after seeing how much longer it takes to get ready she desperately wants to go back to the straight pony that they used to do. It's hard to be 9 and sit still for an hour or more getting your hair done and then having to be careful not to mess it up all day. She has pin straight thick hair so that doesn't help.
