Some Worlds bids can be deferred, but bids from American events cannot.
I wonder if that's why we've are more aware of the deferred bids since they are more local teams that are taking them.Vancouver All Stars won 3 At Large Summit Bids from USA National Championships in Anaheim, CA: Jr3, Sr4 & Sr4 Coed. The competition was so late that they allowed International teams needing a year to fundraise to defer. 2 weeks later, the VAS Youth 2 Ice Crystals won an At Large at Sea to Sky and the Vancouver Sr4 Reign Team won the Paid (upgraded from At Large) So, all 4 teams have deferred their bids till 2014. This is the last year teams will be able to defer bids.;)

Perhaps her gym didn't (which is commendable) but I'm not naive enough to think other gyms won't recruit and stack those teams. Meaning your daughters former teammates are at a disadvantage they might not have had last year. That's not fair to them.Sea2Sky was allowed to defer because it wasn't added to the competitions eligible to give out bids until late in the season and the due date for entry fees was the Monday after the competition was held. Also we were told the team hotels were booked up and there wasn't room so Varsity required that competition to defer. My understanding is that this was the only year they will allow it. My daughter was on the team that won a deferred bid. The gym made the choice not the parents. I am upset and my daughter was upset it had to be deferred because she helped earn the bid but couldn't compete for it this year because we switched gyms. I know that the team already having a bid wasn't advertised to pull in more people and the team is still 75% made up of the same girls that won the bid. I feel the girls have more to prove on that team this year then last year because they still need to show they deserve to go this year and are gunning for a paid bid. I just really wish they could have gone to the first ever Summit that experience would have been awesome. My daughter seeing all her friends posts from there upset her a lot. Also I don't think that gym has used the bid as a recruiting tool it wasn't mentioned in their video once that they had it only mentioned the teams that went to worlds and the paid bids to summit.
