Yep, we have tried the whole diet thing and removal of msg. We also looked into the chiropractor. I think we have tried everything under the sun.

Sorry, I am unable to read all the posts BUT this was my daughter several years ago. I took her to a chiropractor and within a few visits the migraines went away. Mind you, we spent several weeks going to every doctor possible, doing every possible tests out there, for a mom it was very painful for me to see my daughter go through this. Sometimes i secretly wished that they found something so we would know why she had so much pain all the time. I thank GOD every day for our chiropractor. Good luck to you.My oldest daughter struggles with sever migraines. It effects her vision, she usually throws up, and ends up crying her self to sleep. We have been to the Doctors, tried different medicines, tried changing her diet (avoiding msg, etc.), and so far nothing has helped. I have noticed she tends to get them really bad / seems to be a trigger when she side bases. She loves cheer & isn't about to give it up. She is definitely needed as a side baser. Switching to a flyer or back spot is not an option or appropriate for her. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to prevent them? P.S. She does get them even when it is her off days. So, quiting cheer would not solve the problem. I have just noticed, she is almost guaranteed to get a severe one when she spends the majority of the time side basing during a practice. She says they start in her neck and move to the middle of her forehead very quickly.
demand the MRI. I learned the hard way that if you don't force the issue with some Drs. you never get to the root of the problem. YOU are your daughters best advocate. Now is the time to BE "THAT" MOTHER! Best of Luck
I know of a medication that can PREVENT migraines before she gets them. I haven't read through all of the posts so I don't know how old your CP is nor if she has tried this medication before, nor if this medication can be prescribed for children, but I am on it and it is a GODSEND!! made the migraines that I do get much more mild and infrequent. It's called TOPAMAX and requires a prescription. There is a MAJOR side effect of weight loss- I lost 90 pounds while on it, which wasn't such a bad thing since I did need to lose the weight anyways. My migraines are post-menigitis migraines (I had meninigitis and as a result of this I now get migraines. I never had them before I had meningitis) and no other medication seemed to help. Maybe discuss this medication with your doctor and see if this is a possible alternative method of treatment to see if this may help. Good luck!!
Sorry to hear that it hasn't worked. I hope that your CP will find answers and relief as I know all too well the pain that she suffers through and hope that she can get something to help her soon!!Thanks, they have already tried Topamax. It is one of many that they have tried.
