All-Star How Important Is The Title 'nationals'?

Here is how I pick my competition Schedule-
I'm doing CHEERSPORT Nationals
I'm doing NCA Daytona
I look for another 2 day travel Varsity Event for mid to late March that is a reasonable driving distance from us
I try to find a localish Varsity Family plan event to finish out the requirements
and then I fill the gaps with a variety of locals based on price, size, reputation(does this company cancel events) and date

Not really, it seems that a lot of the smaller nationals are starting to drift away from that title anyways. They are becoming battles and clashes and other names, sure you may get a national champion t shirt or sling bag or whatever but it is not promoted as much as Nationals

We all know that Cheersport Atlanta is Nationals, but there is at least one other Cheersport competition in Atlanta, so there should be some sort of delineation. I think Jamfest is the biggest culprit in this, I would not be surprised if they have more nationals then they do non national competitions.

I be fine with banning all competitions from using the word 'Nationals' personally. Only cause it seems to cause more trouble than it is worth.

I think the term "Nationals" has become a way for companies to make their event sound more prestigious. Being a "Jamfest National Champion" from a small Regional competition can be exciting for small teams, but really, you aren't a National Champion. Well know that I think about it, what do we think the word National means? A National champion team that went against maybe one other team sure isn't National.

I think Nationals only "means" something to newcomers. My cp became a National Champion at her VERY FIRST competition ever! She barely knew what she was doing but maybe the excitement of it helped keep her interested in allstar cheer.

National might be important to a gym for marketing purposes, but if it is, isn't it really misleading the newcomers?

I explained competition to a non-cheer friend like this:

• regionals are really local
• Nationals are really regional
• Worlds is primarily national

I might get rotten tomatoes thrown at me for this one, but to me it's somewhat akin to a gym stating on their website that one of their teams attended Worlds but failed to mention that they got there with a 6th place at-large bid that they only received because the 5 teams in front of them already received their bids. And then do not mention how they did once they were there.

I knew worlds was kinda copyrighted or something and you can't do worlds if you do some other internationally/worlds type deal, but actual regulating of Names I do not know about

Not copyright, you just arent allowed to name your event Worlds. Whats the difference?

With all the tampons they give out as participation "gifts" at comps, it actually makes sense.

Agree "nationals" really means nothing more than two day event at this point! I mean if you have more than say 30 states representing ehh maybe a national then. But really with soooo many "nationals" the prestige is gone as you may be only competing against a couple of teams. Although we have a "World Champion" that basically only beat 4 teams on one day!

I mean Rings are already losing their value because every event and company is trying to give those away. Jackets are becoming that way, similarly to the word Nationals. I think our divisions need to be cleaned up more than the titles of the events.

I saw a tweet during the Olympics about how there are no small country categories; if there is to be a Championship of sorts to define a couple winners (obviously divided by age groups) for All of the industry, there needs to be less divisions and more competition created with bigger divisions

My college team cheered at Canam Nationals or something like that at Myrtle Beach and it was the biggest shizz show. Scoring was wack, my coach went off of high school comp score sheets to fix our routines to prepare for "nationals"-_-There were no real guidelines scoring wise that we knew about, as we came in 2nd or 3rd out of 12 (i dont even remember it was that pointless, i just thought of it as a vacation), it was a one day comp.
I would of felt more enthused if it was a DIII nationals and all DIII schools competed. It stinks cause my school is considered a college sport so we cant attend UCA or NCA, but to be honest if anything I feel like most DI schools get WAY more towards their program than we do, no comparison, so its lame our school classifies us as a sport we get nothing.

Allstar wise, everyone knows NCA Nats, Cheersport Nats, Jamfest Nats are the top and only worthy events to be considered nationals. I wish Jamfest would atleast change their titles for their smaller competitions. When they come to syracuse my sister literally rolls out of bed, does her hair, drives 10 minutes down the highway and competes an hour later with no one in her division, and they are call "national champions". Please change it to something realistic like regional champs, state chmps or city champs. No one from California is going to fly in for a Jamfest Cooljam, its not a national event, stop it.
