Appendectomy? I had my appendix out last week and I have comp this friday. Two runs..I was planning on only doing the pyramids and the dance and no jumping or tumbling. I HATE not being on the floor and don't really want to have to watch my team mates compete at the first comp with me just sitting there...

Id listen to what your doctor says. Surgeries are much different than broken bones and sprains. You run the risk of busting your stitches or hemorrhaging.

Cp's friend had it out in May. I think she was told at least a month to make sure everything healed. Be smart, you could cause damage that would keep you out for months. Sit this one out.

I got mine out just over two years ago and it took at least a month before I could fully get back into everything. Apart from everything that's been said so far, your core muscles lose a lot of strength during the recovery process so coming back too early could result in a muscular injury as well as the risk of tearing stitches etc.

But I totally get how hard it is to sit out! Especially when you feel like you're fine. Patience, in this case, will pay off in the long run :) Good luck!

Had mine out about two years ago, as I recall I wasn't allowed to lift anything for the first week and nothing over 10 pounds for the second. I was allow to pick up anything heavier than ten pounds for three weeks or so.....and I don't stunt people.

Sit it out. Otherwise you run the risk of having to sit out a lot more if you do more damage to yourself and I'm pretty sure you won't get medical clearance to cheer full out in two weeks.

Did you have a laproscopic surgery? If so, then you're probably right at the fringe of being able to resume normal activity, although lifting kids in a pyramid is still probably not a good idea. If you had a more open surgery, then no way.

The best advice was given above, though, which is to ask your doctor and explain what activity you'd like to perform and see if he/she thinks that's ok.

if possible I would bring a video on my phone/iPad/camera etc to show your doctor what kind of activity you'll actually be returning too. a lot of times doctors don't understand the scope of allstars and assume you'll be standing on a sideline so they'll clear you too soon. be careful.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I'm going to practice tomorrow and seeing what I'm able to do. I am in no way going to try and do jumps or tumbling. I'm a flyer and most of my stunts have been replaced but I still may do the pyramid in which I only do a db and assist flips and a few hitches. All I planned to do mainly was fronting and dance.

and it was laparoscopic surgery :) it wasn't open surgery! Thank goodness

This is something I'd recommend, if possible.

My best friend had an Appendectomy (funny story, had no clue it was happening, made jokes about, went to Sweet Sixteen) she sat out a week and was tumbling after awhile. But her wounds didn't heal as quickly.
