Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to get everyone's opinion on this event. I went to Jam-Live last year and I was sitting there after my team performed and after a while I started to realize I wasn't having fun. I wasn't having fun because I was to sympathetic to the teams that didn't win by like 35 points and their score was read out loud in front of the whole arena. Everyone there understands cheerleading and how the scoring works. So when they call off a team for example the team got a 125.5 and then the next team performs and they hit their routine and their like yeah yeah we did great and then they step back up on the stage and the announcer reads off like 100.1 and everyone knows they just got beat by a large ammount. You see the hurt and pain on their faces. I felt it was way different then an actual awards ceremony where your in the privacy of your own area with your team and the whole arena isnt watching you. I dont know I really just had a major problem with that. Anyone else?

I personally dont mind when scores are shown on screen but only on day one. Sunday scores shouldnt be shown to the competitors even at the awards! They should just say what place the team is in. I agree that its very sad to see teams that lose by alot but it happens! Thank goodness scores arent posted on screen for every part of each rputine when they receive their place. Now THAT would be really bad!

Maybe just read the top 3 scores and 3 places . My CP's team beat 12 teams in a competition last year and when they called it out "in 13th place" and gave the score. I did feel terrible for that team. They did not even know how to act. It was sad.

YEAHH thats exactly what Im getting at lol like I feel like there is a better way to go about calling off the teams. Like maybe they could say you are currently in 2nd place or currently in 3rd. Instead of reading off their score in front of everyone ! I am glad that I am not the only one ! :] Thanks guys

I like Jamfest Live events. I like the scores being announced. I like to know who the winner is. Its almost like we are a "real sport".

I know it sucks to hear the scores when they are spread so far apart however I really believe we are making kids "soft" these days. Everyone is worried about hurting feelings, and losing is a part of life. Also many parents don't understand the scoring system and are constantly fed untruths after competitions about why so and so beat them and how they should have won. The reading of the scores to me helps more people understand how realistic your routine and level are for each team. Sorry to be rambling but both winning and losing are a part of life and kids have to learn how to deal with it :)

I personally like the Jam Live scoring. I don't think i'd like it at every competition we go to- but for that comp- it's fun. I am not sure that everyone here knows what the Live scoring is.... right after you compete, you come back on stage and announce your score. If you have the highest score so far in your division, you get to go hang out in the Leaders Lounge (big red couches on the side of the stage). If the next team that performs outscores you- they take over the Leaders Lounge and you are out. If they score less, they exit the stage and you stay put. The team that is in the Leaders Lounge at the end of the division is the 1st place team. They then announce the other placements for the division after the division is over. The awards ceremony really only highlights the 1st place teams, and specialty awards.

What you just said there though "The awards ceremony really only highlights the 1st place team and specialty awards" Well why not highlight all the teams? ha - maybe this is the coach in me coming out ha !

I see both sides of this. the fact that the actual awards ceremony only highlights those teams is the main reason i said i would not like this if it was all of the competitions. That being said- each team does get to go up on the stage after they perform and get individual trophies, etc. They get their time in the spotlight. Granted they announce the score and it may be a huge difference from the team above them but i don't see that being much different than announcing placements at a regular comp and a team being 28th place out of 28. I do like that they award specialty awards- like spirit and best music and such. So even if you didn't take first place- you still have things to work toward during awards.

Woah thats a weird competitipn! I definetly prefer classic competitions where you compete and dont see scores till your coach goes to get them after competing!!

I have not been to a live scoring event- didn't even know they had them. But, I think it would be great. Sometimes I feel that scores are manipulated and this would keep that from happening- to some extent. As far as embarrassing- it is not that different than the basketball team or football team that loses and their scores are posted.

we love them!!! I'm sad they cancelled the one here in Va Beach that is usually here in December....now its a GLCC comp :(

Yes!! I would LOVE more visibility in scoring, even if it meant my CP was last (that's life!)
