Ok, so I just thought I'd pose a thought. Why not, right?

So, I know most cheerleaders are in it for the "Cheerleading" aspect of it, persay(Stunts, pyramids, tosses, etc.) And don't get me wrong, I absolutely love cheerleading, with every bone in my body.

But I find that it's tumbling where I shine. I'm not like a flyer, that everyone remembers because they're the face of a big stunt(no offense intended, flyers.), but I am just great at tumbling!

Now, I'm a back spot, so even if you look at the stunts, you really don't see me. Haha. But still, back spots are a vital part of bringing a stunt together, whether you see it or not.

Is anyone else like me, and is just above proficient in tumbling? Just thought I'd ask. I feel like I'm weird. Haha.

Everybody has their own niche in cheerleading, some are better than others at certain aspects! If tumbling is your niche and you know your really good at it then keep focussing on it, but dont forget to jump and work on stunt technique along the way!

Cheers!

There are plenty of cheerleaders that love to tumble and are very very good at it. Many are the last pass on their team and great back spots/bases.

There is nothing wrong with this. Keep working on it but don't forget to work on the rest of your cheer skills too. If you find that you want to do more tumbling / learn more then what you're getting for cheer, look for a power tumbling team. They compete against other gyms on a national and international level, plus they're suppisedly looking to make it an Olympic sport.

Good luck

I think that there are many aspects of cheerleading that an athlete can be strong in, such as jumps and dance, as well as basing and flying and tumbling. I think that you need to be strong in more than one area to be a well-rounded cheerleader. I know that at CP's former gym, you were actually placed on a team based on more than just your tumbling skills; if you were a strong base and a great dancer and there was a need for an athlete with those skills on a Level 5 team, you were placed on that team. Now on her college team, CP has very strong tumbling skills and was a standout athlete for that skill but she is also a great backspot and an athlete with both of those skills was needed and that is probably one of the reasons why she made her college team. Athletes with more skills are a commodity that are best used on the better teams and therefore, even if you like to tumble more than you like to stunt or jump, you should try and improve those skills also so that you can be noticed as an athlete that stands out from the crowd.
