im really not trying to start anything and i know its a southern culture type thing or whatever you would like to refer it as. but i always kinda laugh when people say yeah im from the south. yet they say they live in the carolinas, etc. i guess growing up in florida my entire life im just use to doing this

granted i would not consider most parts of florida southern, considering how crazy people tend to be who live in this great state, but still. ha.
This "South" term confuses me. Apparently the western U.S. has no South, we're just western. But the central portion of the U.S. and the East Coast have a "South". But where "South" is seems to vary depending on where you are located. When I lived in Oklahoma the south meant Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi etc. But never Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas etc. that was the Midwest. My husband who was born and raised in Kentucky, felt Kentucky was the south. As well considering Oklahoma and Texas to be in the south. I could go on but you get the idea. There seems no clear definition of the south. Over time the term "South" seems to have morphed from it's originally intended reference. Btw I live on the West Coast now and we don't consider Florida to be the South.

I know there has been a lot of chatter here on the Fierceboards regarding Worlds athletes and release forms. My understanding was that the release form was used in the event a Worlds athlete wanted to leave their existing gym and go perform on another Worlds team at another gym. In which case USASF required the athlete to obtain a signed release from their original gym. But, I recently discovered there exists a USASF rule that requires any athlete, regardless of level to obtain a signed release form to change gyms and join a Worlds team. Granted this isn't likely to occur much, if ever. But, why would such a thing be necessary ? It's not as if you're gym hopping from one Worlds team to another.
