So I've wondered, completely out of curiosity, is working at Abercrombie is horrible as everyone (mostly on the internet) says it is?
ETA: how much truth is there to stuff like this?

I didn't think it was bad at all! It was my first "real job" besides babysitting. The people are all really friendly and the work isn't exactly hard. Before my interview I googled what it was like to work at A&F and it seemed like everyone either really loved it or hated it. Let's see about this article...
). Truth. We did have to go around and spray the fragrance. I was pumped when I got to do that job because I loveee the smell of Fierce.
). True, I can never listen to Come
And Get It by Selena Gomez again.
). No idea.
). No idea about benefits but I believe all three of my managers had their degrees.
). Half true. Employees are either models or impacts. You choose which you want to be on your application. "Models" are basically sales associates. That's what I was. We were in the front of the store, registers, basically on the floor. "Impacts" were in the back doing stuff in the stock room and running clothes into the floor occasionally. Not really based of looks, more based on personality. Outgoing people were typically models and shy were impacts. Once again, YOU picked which you wanted to apply for.
). True. I was scouted while in the store shopping with my cousin and sister (who was also scouted). Basically if they think you look like the brand they will tell you to apply. They don't stay "hey you're pretty, apply". She just asked if I had a job and then told me they had openings and that I should apply. You can also apply without being scouted.
). Ehhh. You dressed based on that seasons style guide. But I mean I guess I never saw anyone get yelled at for wearing a crop top.
). Only had to watch shoplifting videos during orientation.
). True, although I never had anyone pull a knife on a manager. I did have a manager have me watch people because she could tell they were gonna steal.
). I never stole anything (or would dare to dream about it). They check you bags before you leave. My brother had a friend who worked there way before me and I think he (the friend not my brother) had stole from the store before.
). SO TRUE! There were certain tag lines you had to say when customers walk in. I always answer my phone with "hey how's it going" now out of habit. There were also tag lines at cash wrap and when people left the store.
). True! Secret shoppers came in to judge us on if we said tag lines, how neat the store looked and such.
). False. Never was I ever told to do that.
). True. You could be picked to be "cast of" which meant you had the possibility of being chosen to be a legit model for the store
). Not true. I was never told that, always told to ask the customer for help (especially so they wouldn't mess up our perfectly folded jean wall!!)
). Half true. I did legit go back and ask questions a couple of times, but when an impact was back there, but if nobody was back there I had no idea how the clothes were organized in the bays so I couldn't find the size or whatever they wanted.
). False. We only made fun of adults who came in and complained about how small the sizes were because they didn't realize they were in the kids store, not the adult store hahaha.
). We didn't have anyone who didn't speak English.
). False. You got a half an hour for lunch for shifts over five hours.
). False. Was never told to do that.
). False! We got employee discount at every A&F store (Hollister, Abercrombie, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Gilly Hicks)
). False!! Never ever saw that happen.
). No idea, I guess true, I mean I only worked summer.
Yikes that was long. Hope that answers all your questions! If not just ask :)
