I wouldn't be surprised if some moms were more suspicious of someone who had never tumbled teaching their kids perfect technique, than they would be of a World Champion all-star cheerleader teaching their kids horrible technique.

The gymnastics gym I was at growing up had a men's head coach who had never done gymnastics in his life. He was brilliant and just started out as a rec coach and over the years learned how to coach at the elite level. He even sent one athlete to Worlds on Ring's. I always thought it was the weirdest thing but now as a coach, I see how common it is in cheer. Usually there is some experience but with the skills that are being done today, they didn't exist years ago when we were all cheering! lol

When coaching gymnastics I learned more from a woman who never took a single gymnastics course in her life than I did from any of the people I worked with who competed in gymnastics or power tumbling.
There is a certain benefit to being able to do a skill while trying to teach said skill, but at the same time, it is possible to be educated and naturally observant enough to coach a skill. It's interesting how much this industry (and dance and gymnastics it seems) shames people who have never done the sport, or who have never reached the highest level of sport. If you took every major NFL fan in the world, I could assure you that likely less than 1% of them have ever competed even semi-professionally, if at all.
I rarely feel the need to explain myself, the success of my athletes does that enough, that person's comment just threw me off a bit.
Exactly!

I'm mad at myself for saying "gymnastics course" when I meant class because I was thinking about her doing certification courses.. Too late to fix now

I hope I didn't build up any anticipation for this as my CP is only doing half-year (Prep) this year. I told my little joke and then forgot to post!

Ok here's what they came up with for a full top that suits a Jr. 2 Prep team:

I know it doesn't look like much, but remember it's just Prep, and the X-Man REALLY sparkles under the lights. The price was right too and my CP8 likes it.

Pros: No cutouts or stomach mesh. Cheap. Bra-friendly.

Win? ;)

I like it. Simple, clean, bra friendly, with just enough sparkle. I say win!

I've never tumbled on my own when I cheered but I'm certified levels 1-4 and can most definitely break down a skill and teach it

I really like where the mesh is placed.

I like the uniform, and agree that it's bra friendly...but you must have a different definition of "cut-out" than me. Isn't that area of skin between the neck strap and the sleeve a cut-out? (A non-offensive one, but a cut-out none-the-less...)

CJA IO6. Would be great if they had made it a v neck and not put the weird backwards sports bra neckline. That completely ruins the whole thing.
I really like it actually, I think they'll look great on the floor. They're easy on the eyes. The guys' uniform is too baggy though, not safe.
