I know there are. But I said what number of teams. This isn't meant to be mean, but I think the number of shooting stars with one to double is great than the number of other female athletes in NJ with a one to double. Boys are a different story. But I would say outside of WC there are no more than 30 Athletes with any of the restricted skills. And I would say within world cup there are definitely less than 30.

This isn't exactly directed at you, but more of a jumping off point...if there are only 60 or so athletes with these skills how are there really that many injuries? it would be VERY easy to poll 60 athletes and find this information. I'm not buying the safety slant...so what IS the issue? And why try to hide behind safety?

If i had time at worlds I would ask.

As a matter of fact, maybe i will create a survey and ONLY send it to athletes that can prove they have any of these skills.

I agree with the new rules. They aren't too bad. Still leaves a lot of skills and mainly variations to work on. Peaks aren't double fulls anymore and they shouldn't be regarded as. There are SO many variations that can end in a double that somebody can do with the restrictions. I feel like there will be more creative passes, more intricate variations, and possibly even harder work for elite tumblers to weave in and out of the restrictions.

I know you were initially concerned with the only 10+ year olds on Sr teams then you said later about the plus side of it.. Lol

Anyways how do feel about it still?

I've talked to some elite tumblers at WC, and they have plenty to work on. These new rules aren't making them pack their bags because of about 4 skills total that aren't allowed anymore.
I will reserve judgement for when "under review" passes. I can't help but think this may be a way to appease some and calm down the perfect arena for voicing displeasure...WORLDS.

Well, my kid was REALLY concerned about it. and I was concerned about her concern ;) I'm OK with it. I think it sucks for small gyms that need a SR team to accommodate a few athletes to make a team, but it is what it is and I guess everyone will adapt :)

And I will deny this to my cp if you said that I said it, but I'm soooo glad she's not able to be on a Sr team this year...LOL

Soo question in international to compete during normal season you have to be 15 as of aug* but the worlds grid is age as of th year of worlds dec 31st... Is that stayin for this upcoming season ?!

This age thing really affected my CP, it was her chance to fly and use her tumbling, now she is doomed to be on a youth 3 team once again with no chance of flying because all the girls on her youth team are 2 feet tall. In addition she has all level 3,4. & 5 skills (not just tumbling) but this age grid just capped her out because she is 9. I think for small gyms they should have the ability to appeal for certain cases. I am happy they revised many of the other rules, however i know it is still hurting many people. All my cheer people.....HANG IN THERE & STAY STRONG!!

Is there not an option for a Junior 5 team in your area?

And I'm one of those the new age rules it sucks for. We are a small Senior team, NO gym, just a small town team, However, we "have to" follow USASF rules. We just compete at some local High School Fundraising Competitions, but those are the rules everyone uses to go by. Well like I said we are from a small town, we take everyone that signs up just to be able to field one team. Well we have always (since 2004) had 9 yrs. as the youngest age to be. We has sign-ups for next year already. If they so if they wouldn't have changed it we were fine, if they would have kept it the way they changed it the first time, we would have been able to field a very small Youth and very small Senior team. HOWEVER, the way they divided the age now, I have to tell a little girl that has ever so patiently waited to turn 9 that she has to wait another year.

It has effected my daughter as well.....TWICE NOW. She won't be able to be on our IOC5 next year and was left off with this same group of kids in 2009 when they changed the rules. I've settled down a little now but am still extremely disappointed in the USASF and would like to know there reasoning and see some data to support this new age grid.

In my area, yes there is CEA but that would mean changing gyms altogether. Its going to be a lot of thinking and considering going on within the next few weeks at my house.

Tumbling is a small part of cheerleading. If you only want to tumble, take up power tumbling like Kiara.
I doubt many people have double up immediate stretch, or three trick baskets to a double down. There are still a TON of things to be worked on. How about a double punch whip punch double in tumbling. That is still legal. I don't know many people that can do that.

There are still ways to push yourself without doing a full punch double or double punch double.

Yes but the question is now how long will it be before the USASF restricts that ?? You say" its just a (insert skill here) " but the greater point is that without a vote our sport has been changed. And not just skills we have given the power to this board that now wants to regulate dress, bows, performances, etc. Your skill that you you love to do is now in jeopardy.
