I noticed that there are some gyms that keep their teams literally a secret, but some gyms are very open about teams and levels even though they may change throughout the summer months, why the big secret - is it the element of surprise? I personally love going on different websites looking at teams for the upcoming season, gets me excited about the level of competition.

I don't think gyms want to keep it a secret on purpose. They simply are taking the summer to see what unfolds. This allows extra time to make the right decisions on athletes and levels for the upcoming competition season.

I actually know a couple of gyms that are afraid of the other local gyms knowing what teams they have for fear of them creating the same competition.

The opposite can be said bc it happens in my area. When "X" gym releases their teams gym "Y" might change OUT of those div to AVOID competing. It works both ways so before rushing to judgement, stop and think.

Some gyms are also not really 100 percent sure of what the team levels and divisions will be by the time comp season begins. Sometimes when you make teams true level, everyone is not happy with that and they leave to go elsewhere where they can be on a higher level team even if they don not have the skill. Add in financial issues, scheduling conflicts, personality conflicts, "Suzie must fly" or else and there is a lot of movement during the summer months.

With so many roster changes these days before choreography and the first competition it may change a team from Level 3 to Level 2, Coed 5 to Coed 4, from Coed to All Girl, or from a worlds level 5 division to a non worlds level 5 division. By not posting until you are absolutely sure avoids the whole "they changed divisions to avoid competing against us" - translation losing - drama when in reality they could not be competitive in that division due to internal athlete movements.

No rushing to judgment, have no reason too - I stated exactly what I know happened. This is a question to get opinions about other gyms reasoning, and thank you for yours as well.

I'm sorry if it seemed as if I was attacking, def wasn't what I meant, sorry.

What are non-worlds level 5? Don't all Level 5 teams qualify in national tournaments to get bids for worlds?

Some teams are restricted and don't attend worlds. These are new level 5 teams that aren't necessarily ready for worlds. Junior and youth level 5's don't attend worlds either. And some L5 teams simply don't go to worlds.

Is that because open is 18 and over and the highest level is 6 for them?

As for this restricted thing, what's restricted? Is it stunts?, tumbling?
Senior Open is the same as Senior Restriced... there is just a new name this season.

This division was created so teams that weren't competitive in the Senior 5 division would have a place to compete against teams with similar skill levels.

As for other teams that don't go, I assume there are a number of reasons such as not earning a bid throughout the season, not going unless they earn paid bids or just the finances involved in general.
