@dance_extreme_94 "Am I the only one having a hard time believing that this new season will be nothing but that drama" Obviously you are not the only one. That is what the majority of posters keep saying over & over. I personally like Smoed, Orby, & Eddie. My kids adore them. They have great hearts. So, I am not the best one to quote.

I just can't imagine why they would want to go back to a company that made them look unprofessional as a business, and bullies as coaches. I'm seriously not getting it that's what I mean :)

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
I figured that. Its pretty crazy what money will do, but why risk a reputation for money? any gym can be shut down due to that kind of stuff. I know its highly unlikely for a place like CA but I'm sure if the situation ever became severe parents wouldn't wanna keep their kids there. (hopefully)

I don't fault Eddie, Orby, and all involved for wanting more money. They were used to a certain amount of income, they lost it, now they want it back. Anyone would felt the same. But it's the way they are going about doing it and their actions that I side eye

I agree. There is nothing wrong with wanting money. Especially easy money like that. Its just I feel like they don't know how to handle it correctly as you just said. Which is ashamed because they should know how to handle the media with how long they've been in business and how successful they have been. This should be a no brainier to them

lets be honest everyone loves a good train wreck. And the smoed show is exactly that, people will watch regardless, its human nature.
do i like what the show has essentially turned that teams attitude, etc into. absolutely not. But in general im sure orby and eddie are very nice people in person, and considering from the looks of it there are no long term returning kids except for one, maybe there wont be as much hostility between teammates coming and leaving. And maybe thats why they decided to return, knowing that they have no long term returning athletes who tended to start and add to the social media drama.
would i hope that the show is portrayed more like gymtyme, and just focus on the team and competitions yes. but i doubt it.

@incognitocheermom I was joking about getsum being a coach... Sorry that that wasn't made clearer. I don't hate anything about Smoed or Cali. It's just that when the entire cheer world hears the term "bad sportsmanship on level 5 teams" they're always the first they think of. And frankly that's not entirely the fault of ATV. There's no denying that Eddie and Orby are some of the best in the industry at what they do. But being the best- as we've seen this past week with the Jamie Parrish/Gabi Butler thing- doesn't give you the right to be rude on social media or anywhere, for that matter. I think everyone should slow down and take a page or 2 out of Ronda Rousey's book: confidence is silent, insecurities are loud.
Regarding Outliers:

It's a really great book and has some great bits of knowledge that really change your view on other peoples successes. I love that your college is requiring everyone to read it. I think it'd be a great high school graduation gift. But I wanted to tell you that the unabridged audiobook is up on Youtube for free if you find you'd rather listen to it than read it. It's read by the author which gives it a little personal touch.
All of that above aside, I'm really looking forward to it! I'm not much of an audiobook person, but I will tell friends. I wasn't even looking forward to university seminar until now. (I love being required to read books because I have to make time for it even when I'm busy, lol.) It's basically going to be a 6 week book club where they teach us important stuff about college and force us to make friends. But it is an hour of credit so I'm not complaining!
(Edited bc wording)

I don't think anyone is saying its ATV fault for all the teams :) Especially the "bad sportsmanship" line. However, realistically speaking, a lot of level five teammates tend to forget where they started and many of them often "down" lower teammates. I realize this isn't everyone on everyone level five teams, and many level five teams are actually very humble. In fact, the majority of them are, but there is still that percentage that do not have that sportsmanship. The same can be said about the lower teams, but in my opinion its seen more in the hire level teams.

I almost posted this before and didn't, but here I go. The conspiracy theorist in me just can't handle watching it at this point.

The longer I read this and see the pages accumulating the more I think this is just one big publicity stunt. The show, the tweet, it's all an orchestrated (and brilliant) effort to continue to keep people talking about them. Not unlike other coaches in the industry, I'm feeling like they subscribe to the idea that "all publicity is good publicity."

And while talk may be negative, they're getting pages and pages of it both here and on twitter and whether you were for them or against them last season, everyone seemed to have an opinion. Which means they're accomplishing their goal of keeping their name at the top. I expect until we start getting the weekly episodes (which I haven't watched since season 1) there will be a random OMG I JUST CAN'T with them inspiring tweet or post to keep the hype high and the thread at the top of the page.

i cant see them doing all this to come towards the end and say "nope no smoed show" especially now that both coaches are subtweeting about it, etc.
If it was just athletes tweeting about it, i would second guess the show actually coming back, but considering the coaches have been doing it, plus that released CA statement i would guess that it actually is.
