Anyone else notice that the moms said (not verbatim ) that Debbie Allen "wanted the girls to take a class"

But Debbie Allen (not verbatim) said that she was glad the girls called and wanted to take a class.

I felt bad that the second Kalani came off the stage she was being wrapped in a heat wrap before the camera zoomed in on her face when she was clearly in a lot of pain.

That Brynn's mom is a nasty middle school mean girl in the form of 40 year old woman - I was actually hoping for Jill to slap her at some points during that episode. What a witch she is. If she is even 1/2 as bad as that in real life I can only imagine what a horrible environment that studio where Brynn trains is - she's from the same place as Kalani and that other crazy mom who'd always fights w/ Kalani's mom (Sarah I think her name is). No thanks to that place IMO! - their dancers also all strike me as girls who are amazing when they are young and flexible, but loose the ability to do those tricks and such when they age and get bigger. Like look how much Kalani has gone downhill just from what she's done on the show - I could barely tell her apart from Nia in that duet and two years ago she was so far ahead of Nia I don't think a synchronized Duet would have been physically possible.

This show just demonstrates how much competition dance is gradually turning into an activity mostly for kids 11 and under and their crazy competitive moms. It's almost like a pageant situation where the moms dress them up and "market" them, jumping around from studio to studio to find them the next best thing training-wise, but then at some point (around age 12) the kid gets mature enough to say "enough mom - I don't want to do this anymore cause I dont really care if I win or not and you're always pressuring me too much!" That's the point where Kendall is for sure.

Meanwhile, studios like Abby's get all the money they can out of these moms for that 4-6 year window they have though.

That was the Bollywood choreographer from SYTYCD (which is a shame that someone like that would associate themselves w/ this show) - it was kind of funny how he was suprised he was dealing w/ so many memory issues among the kids - this is what happens when you go from teaching choreography to high caliber adult dancers, to teaching it to 6 year olds, buddy! Haha. He better get used to it too cause I've heard that the next season of SYTYCD is going to be a kids version for kids 8-13, they aren't doing the adults any more. Which is just awful IMO - I'd rather the show go off the air than turn into AUDC for network TV.

I've been watching the show on and off but Brynn's mom doesn't really bother me, and IMO she seems to be one of the more knowledgeable moms when it comes to dance. Also I also found it kind of annoying how Jojo's mom kept telling the mini team that they need to learn how to work as a team, when every other episode the Dance Moms dont even work as a team.

Also -- for the duet, I don't think Kalani has gone down hill, I just think it was simply a dance style she did not know so of course it was going to be a hot mess, but I would have enjoyed it more if it was a group routine rather than a duet.

And I'd be interested to watch SYTYCD Kid/Juniors version. TBH I tuned out of SYTCD years ago, I didnt know it still came on. But I've noticed alot of shows are going this route, and seems to be kind of successful.. Project Runway Juniors, Chopped Juniors, etc.

Yeah that made me feel bad for her too. That with the other mention of her pain and being near tears

Also. Anyone else think Nia was trying to get an Emmy award for the Instagram post tears? At first I was like..."aw. poor tink tink, so sad!"

but then I noticed the multiple commercial breaks about Instagram...and what to post...how to post it etc... and I was like...Wait a minute...

I watched it online so I didn't see the instagram commercials...good catch. I do vaguely remember her posting a video of her in one of Abby's classes, I think Kendall was in the video too and it got made fun of a lot.

I can't find the comment replying to mines but I understand what you're saying about the past seasons (@SL&AM but my point is that while its okay to have a favorite girl (we all do even a cheer coach does) what's not okay is taking away opportunities for advancement just because they aren't that girl, what's not okay is to constantly tell a teen going through a bunch of hormonal changes to be like someone else or they're not worth her time and the list goes on and on. NIA got dogged all last season for choosing to chase after her dreams that her own dance teacher obviously wasn't going to give her because she wasn't Maddie or Kendall and I think that's wrong and that's what I mean by "I don't understand"

Its not okay to debunk others just because they're not someone else. Especially a teen who barely knows how to control their emotions

Everything they do is for the storyline. Anything from past about Season 2, I don't take at face value.

I just watched The People vs OJ Simpson on FX and noticed that Asia Monet (formerly and briefly of Dance Moms) is playing Sidney Simpson (OJ's Daughter)

There was a comp they filmed that only had like 14-15 dancers total; including the cast kids, so it may have been that one. It was leaked on a spoiler page but I don't remember which episode number it's from.

I wonder what Abby Lee meant when she said "you're not built like your mom" to one of the minis?

I'm going to be honest. None of the moms on the show have particularly desirable bodies. They're all built like regular moms who have had multiple children. So if we're basing future bodies on that...none of their futures are too bright

But I mean really what is that to say to a 7ish year old? (Or anyone ). I spent the whole episode watching that mom trying to figure out what was so different about her

I actually got pissed off when Abby tried to throw the "not ethnic" enough card at Nia because she shared the stage in a West African number with Kalani... Abby appeared to have been offended (masked, of course) that Kalani was chosen to do that style of dance and quickly put Nia down and praised Kalani... Furthermore, I was quite shocked that Abby was so critical of that number, especially knowing that it won 1st place...
