This season I am mostly apalled by the parents behavior and their lack of tact in front of the children, sometimes allowing and engaging the children in their mean girls behavior. In my opinion, these moms have form a gang, and Melissa is being pushed into leading them..

The moms highly upset me, when they tried to force Melissa to confront and have a showdown with Abby, publicly. I am thinking, Abby wanted to privately react to losing students and I am certain, Abby had students grow up and move to the next stage in their life before...As a teacher, we all develop our students for that purpose, to move on and be successful. Maddie and MacKenzie now are equipped to be successful and spread Abby's name to outsiders. I got that as a teacher..,,

Abby's job is to bring in fresh bodies, ala Mini, and in many ways, in my opinion, the mom's dressed as if they were mourning for Melissa, Maddie and MacKenzie's departure was really a rouse for their mourning of their and their daughter's futures. There is an uncertainty with their lives and they know that Abby's reaction spells the end for their children and the special attention they received... The brand new smell and shine is off of Kendall, Kalani, Jojo and Nia, it is time to find younger and cuter replacements with an even bettrr compelling backstory.... (Areanna's disabled brother)...Oops, sorry Melissa, it is solely about Maddie and MacKenzie leaving....

I'm still watching cause I DVR'd it but I've become accustomed to fast forwarding through the drama and just watching the dancing. So just finished watching solos:: yes the lyrical was beautiful, it's a shame that Mackenzie was given and acro dance when I think she has a lot more potential and not just tricks... Now maddie, regardless of my opinions of this family as a whole or of Melissa, that solo was just amazing honestly... Maddie has shown from the beginning dance moms that she is a performer... Yes she has amazing technique for her age etc but she is an amazing performer... Now on to the group dances

I actually disagree with you on Maddie's technique---for her age, she's pretty subpar. What makes her stand out is her face; she truly has one that can light up from the front row to the back row AND she knows how to emote very well---even if it's the cheesy 'Maddie face' hashtag that never really became a thing (sorry Abby). If you follow any of the kids outside of the DM show, most of them don't consistently place 1st or even top 3 (in real competitions that aren't made for the show and have solid reputations) because there are tons and tons and tons of kids who are far better, just not famous. That isn't to say I don't foresee Maddie going far, at least for now, but I doubt it'll be based on her dance technique because it isn't that good (as does most of the DM kids, with the exception of Brynn who is Maddie's polar opposite---flawless technique, still learning emotion).

Brynn was also recently on Ellen's for Dancerpalooza if anyone is interesting; it moved so quickly I couldn't tell if any of the other DM kids were part of it but it didn't look like it.

I was watching tonight's episode with mouth wide opened... What were others opinion of Melissa, Maddie and MacKenzie's last dance competition and appearance? Did you agree with Abby's attitude and behavior?

Out with the old and in w/ the new - happens in a lot of competitive dance studios year after year - moms of the new up and coming kids can't wait till the older kids graduate and their moms, who think they own the place cause "their kid has danced there since they were 2", get the hell out.

I couldnt help but to think of Christi/Chloe and Kelli/Brooke/Paige when the show was blathering on about how Melissa/Maddie/McKensie "started it all" and the whole emotional presentation of the flowers, etc. The others were just as, if not more, integral in the success of the Dance Moms, but none of them got that type of credit or emotional tribute when they left - the others were much more interesting and likable characters too. I think that was just sad.

It will be interesting to see what the show does w/ the rest of those older girls (Nia and Kendall especially) going forward. The only use plot-wise I could see for them is to watch them react and storm out as their kids get replaced and pushed aside by the minis and Brynn.

And Rachelle Rak (the lady emceeing awards in the little purple dress) has an amazing body, but she needs to leave a little to the imagination when it comes to her wardrobe choices. There are ways to show off your figure after a certain age w/o looking sleazy - for all her entertainment business experience/know how, you'd think she'd know how to put together a better outfit for TV.

Like I said before she is a performer... I meant amazing technique compared to "average" 13-14yr olds... And maybe I'm just a bit out of the dance loop since CP quit dancing at the beginning of the 2013-2014 season... She chose cheer lol as for technique I meant it's amazing in the sense that's better then 90% of kids I've personally seen (yes not many lol). But the main point was that she's a performer... And I think some of her faces have improved a little bit... Like she's softened the harsh "maddie face" just a little cause I hated it before and now I can actually watch without making fun of it lol

Also I think the groups hip hop dancing had improved tremendously compared to their first ever hip hop number on dance moms... Just my opinion. Lol

Lol - it may have improved in the sense that they knew the steps and performed the choreography in unison, but none of those girls can hip hop their way out of a paper bag. My daughter was laughing at how " white" they danced (and Nia is even more white in the dancing/movement sense than the blondes, which is pretty ironic).

They need to stop trying to make "Dance Moms girls doing hip hop" a thing, it is never going to be a thing... They need to stick to the lyrical and contemporary - they are NOT hip hop dancers, and never will be.

I was so tired of Melissa whining about how this was her girls week. As far as I can tell as a watcher of this show from the start almost EVERY freaking weak has been her girls week no matter what has gone on with other kids. She chose to leave the show to move on to bigger and better things so seriously the whining about it all was just over the top. Which of course is wha the producers want.

Watching the old episodes makes me want to slap her. She was such a the most faithful attendee at the Church of Abby Lee. The Chief Kool-Aid Drinker. It was ridiculous.

I hate the way Ashlee loves to throw rocks and hide her hands.

I hate the fact that Jess seems to think that every little blonde girl with a bow in her head is automatically copying her daughter.

Jill is evil (and a little sick, IMO) for being as giddy as she was about taking the Kids' Choice Awards ticket from Brynn.

I'm not sure why MacKenzie was allowed to whine about being given hip hop for a solo. By Melissa, I mean "oh, but it's her last week!" If that had been any other season, or any other kid, Melissa would not have made that excuse.

Holly finally popped off on someone. That was surprising. But it wasn't as ratchet as some of the other moms, so I'm happy.

I hate the fact that Brynn has to suffer for her mom's actions. I hate seeing her excluded.

I don't watch Dance Moms or know what it is exactly... but I just came here to post about how disappointed I am with So You Think You Can Dance's new format. It's not that I don't appreciate the talent coming from some of these kids, because just like in cheer, I'm sure they are just as skilled as the adults... but for most of us who follow the series, we watch because we appreciate the connections that are made with some of the contestants. Heck, even some of the 18/19 year olds who were on the show in previous seasons I struggled to connect with, how am I suppose to connect with middle schoolers who haven't quite developed emotional maturity?

The show, in my opinion, was a platform for dancers around the U.S. who don't necessarily have access to the same training and facilities as other dancers, but have the talent to potentially make it big - Steven "tWitch" Boss is the most well-known example. Now you're telling kids who have been waiting to turn 18 that they're now too old to be on the show? SYTYCD just signed its death sentence on FOX.

Anyway, my post isn't completely unrelated... Maddie Ziegler is going to be a judge on the show:

Sorry for the rant, just so disappointed... for the first time in 10 years, I will not be tuning into watch.

I don't think it's replacing the orginal format kinda like how master chef junior didn't replace the original didn't replace master chef

@DancerDude0118, I wish there was a way to give more shimmies...I agree with about the younger dancers and wonder, why do these people want to push these little people into the spotlight, so soon and so early. These young'ums have plenty of years (hopefully???) and can be enrolled in more dance classes and continue perfecting their dance talents...Really, what is the rush, anyway?

Furthermore, I really think Maddie is too "green" and inexperience to judge other dancers. How many dance styles she perfected and taught in her 13 years? I highly doubt Maddie can judged an hip hop or ballroom styles...
Additionally,
Tbh, I was hoping SYTYWTD would have actually looked for over 30 aged dancers to compete, frankly, there are so many great dancers in their 30s, 40s, etc, that this dance industry overlooked again....

I want to slap ME-ME-MElissa for the comment she made about that mini mom's son (mom's name is escaping me). But the end was cute.

And this was in the related videos... people these days are too obsessed with the lives of their idols. Creepy.

Oh that's awful, maybe it'll only last for 1 season like the street vs stage thing they did last season
That's if they even get renewed for another season... I can see their ratings tank this season. Many people have commented on their Facebook posts expressing their dissatisfaction for the new format.
