Their is know place for bad grammar, malapropism, and spelling errors in any business. The people that right there ads and emails should at least try too make these corrections so I don't think their buffoons.

Honestly, that's still better than some of the ads I see.

My mums a childminder and she has appalling spelling and grammar, but I don't think it matters because she's looking after kids age 0-4. She's teaching them colours and numbers, not the difference between there, their and they're. My mum looks after the daughter of two high school science teachers and did look after the little girls older sister before she started school, both kids have taken after their parents intelligence (their mother has a chemistry PhD) and my mum hasn't held either of them back. The older one has actually been skipped forwards a year on the reading curriculum she does at school (she's six). Neither parent has any issues with my mums spelling and grammar.

my mom-she's terrible with grammar in general. my dad, that's a different story. lol, I must've gotten it from him! We'll be sitting in a restaurant and he'll hear two words and say, "___&___----ANOTHER SET OF HOMONYMS!" :D

Consistent grammatical issues drive me batty, especially when it's the "face" of your business. There is a gym I'm aware of that has a facebook page and probably 75% of the updates have grammatical issues. Aside from the typical, your/you're issues, they misuse other words and have a persistent lack of subject/verb agreement. My absolute favorite was a flyer they posted on their page to celebrate Christmas. This particular establishment is very outspoken about being primarily a Christian facility. So they posted a flyer with this caption..."Merry CHRISTmas"

When you opened the flyer....

It was a picture of Santa Claus (????) with the banner "Merry Chritmas"

No, that misspelling was not mine, it was written exactly like that.

oh boy lol i am most def #1 on the grammar police most wanted list. i'm a horrible speller and i have horrible grammar but i came from a bad school now i'm in a catholic school so its getting better. I don't know if any of you follow Krystyna Krzeminski on twitter but she posted a pic once of the school that spelled New Jersey wrong and yeah that's the school i was in lol but if i ever do anything wrong go ahead and correct me i need it.

I feel it shows a lack of professionalism and a disregard for details when websites or advertising materials have typos. I do get annoyed with your/you're and their/there/they're and other little grammar things in day to day conversation but I won't correct people on it. I know I'm not perfect and I make mistakes so I don't hold people accountable in casual conversation or in text messages. But with business e-mails and text on websites, it drives me insane. When I get an e-mail at work and it looks like a caveman typed it out, I think less of the person. Try to put your best foot forward in professional situations.

Yes, this! It's not the errors that bother me, it's the feeling of apathy that it conveys. The message to me is "those details aren't important so I won't waste my time with it.". If they don't care about something that hundreds or thousands will see, I can't count on them to care about the details that just a few will see.

Are there any online programs (hint free) where the average person can do lesson's at their own pace to learn to be better writer's?

And I hope this is stated well. LOL

Welcome to the Purdue University Online Writing Lab (OWL) (this is the main page, but click on the OWL Exercises link on the right to find some exercises) This isn't necessarily a 'program', but it has some exercises and definitely has a lot of good resources. One of my professors freshman year showed us this and I've been using it ever since!

I started using it this year for homeschooling, just to help write essays and to make sure I had everything 100% correct.

There will always be typos and mistakes from a lack of sleep, however it is really sad how bad the younger generation is at spelling and grammar. Text messaging and technology in general has sort of ruined it for them. I looked over a friend's resume and it was ridiculous. No wonder she didn't get the job that she applied for before I looked at it...
