All-Star Top Gun Division Change?

We all know it is easier to throw up an 80lb 12 year old than a 120 lb true senior. The judges get this too.

I weigh 94 pounds and I'm 20. So, I don't really get your age/weight ratio.
First of all, I dont know many elite flyers that weigh 120 pounds. Secondly, I know plenty of 75-80 pound flyers with serious LGS (little girl syndrome). Just because you're small doesn't mean you're talented.

Well Unlimited Coed is 7 or more boys next year, so I bet alot of people will be Unlimited next year, more than this year!

I had the privelage of watching Top Gun live for the very first time at NCA. I was amazed by the level of talent that they put on the floor. The little girl flying point was AMAZING and my little cp watched and said I want to be her when I grow up. And since I myself have a little ant cp ( she can lift more then her body weight!) who will probably not hit 5' I say viva la little flyers!

Agree. On my team we have a flyer that is about 115 ish and 5'4. Great flyer, holds her weight, can double from anything, and hits great body positions. Another flyer is 4'10, maybe 80 lbs soaking wet, and she is hard to base, has nasty single full downs, and is the most flexible person ever - if someone's doing it for her - she can't pull the positions on her own. LGS is frustrating!

Just because you are flexible does not make you a good flyer. I know of at least 1 flyer that is flexible but is the worlds laziest flyer. Will do nothing to save a stunt and expects the bases to do all the work. Now I believe that this thread has officially gone down the primrose path and no longer has ANYTHING to do with the original question! LOL:rolleyes:

Wait, is this the Gabi that is "John Butler"'s daughter that he posted the pics of? I think he has 2 daughters, but I remember a couple months ago he posted a pic of her flying and someone commented then about her size/age. I remember it because I was too awestruck by the picture to notice her size. And he just posted a couple more this week. If that's the same girl, I gotta agree with Weezy on this one. That girl BELONGS where she is. She could be 2 feet tall and weigh 35 pounds for all I care--she's awesome. Funny how on the other thread everyone is complaining about flyers without flexibility and how if they're not flexible enough they should be replaced by someone willing to stretch and put in the work. Well here's a girl who clearly is willing to do the work...and now she's not good enough either, because she's too small??? :rolleyes:

Yup that's her! Ashley is his other daughter. Ashley is on IOC5.

I personally thought the tiny top gun girl (Gabi?) looked like she actually had the smaller bases, which I think evens it up. It's not like they put her on top of some beast 18 year old guys, they look like they are smaller compared to the rest of the team IMO.

I can confirm this... Gabi's male base is the smallest boy on the team. And for the record, my daughter is 13 and age eligible for a senior team. She throws tricks to double fulls, can stunt with the best of them and is solid in the air. And she is a very mature girl for her age... she's all business in the gym and is one of the most determined and humble people you will meet.

Tryouts are only a month and a half away and we've got a good number of boys returning/training so with a bit of hard work and playing our cards right you won't have to miss them too much longer ;-)

What if the coed division changes made in the rules this year stick? I then assume you'll just go with whatever the 'large coed division' is?

I think everyone should stop hating on Gabi (sorry if that is spelled incorrectly) and also on Top Gun for putting a younger girl in the air. The majority of us have only seen her compete, we have no idea about her work ethic and all of the time and effort she could be putting in at the gym. Just because she is smaller, younger doesn't mean she is incapable or unworthy. Many programs put up younger girls without drawing much attention, I guess this is just such a big issue bc it's Top Gun. Allll power to Gabbi, that's so awesome for her! She's fierce! (:

I don't know why everyone is jumping on the tiny flyers. No one ever seems to have a problem with the 6 foot backspots on youth/junior teams so why have issues with the 4 foot flyers on senior teams?

watching Gabi compete at NCA, i couldn't stop watching her!
at first i was surprised at her size, then i SAW what she could do!
She 100% deserves to be there - despite her age!

idk when this thread turned to being about Gabi, but from the first time I saw her on video i was like O.....M.....G..... she si so cute and amazing.
My boss visited top gun after Jose did some work for us, and he told me all about this tiny girl who was the bomb.com and point flier on coed, and at first i couldn't beleive they put someone that young on coed, but after seeing her, i knew that she deserves a spot on the team, or on any team really. Her body control is what gets me, in every move she does she doesn't appear to be thrown around like a rag doll but instead maintains control over herself, and for someone her size and age that is both impressive and rarely seen. can you say pint sized version of maddie?
