ok can anyone explain what is going on with hotel reservations booked through gametime? I'm hearing the hotels have canceled all the reservations through gametime. Can someone confirm this? Boy I hope this is not true!

According to gametime they are not cancelled...however if you read NCAs stay and play rules, if you dont book through connections housing they can keep you from competing something I have a huge problem with. I do not think it is NCAs business where I stay...but that is the way it reads...

Gametime has cancelled at least 7 reservations at the Omni that im aware of personally but offering the Fairmont as alternative

We were told back in August that Gametime was no longer the official hotel provider for NCA. We were told to re-book our rooms with the new vendor & our rooms with Gametime were cancelled.

Who is the new vendor

Connection Housing. Phone #800-262-9974 or 404-842-0000. We were also given a link & a booking code I believe.

As a travel agent, I give the new housing company nothing but props. The owner called me personally since I had over 60 reservation at the Omni booked through Gametime. They are going working very hard to make the best of a situation they did not cause.

If a gym have hotel rooms not in the block they will try to get the rooms included so that the teams are "offical." If this is the case contact the Connect Housing.

The company has no intentions to push hotel prices up, they actually hope in the years to come the prices will come down. All hotels will be competing to be part of the NCA block, by offering the best rates.

Yes but gametime has not cancelled the Omni rooms.

I work in this field for a living and understand the contracting process very well. I have a sense that Gametime was trying to hang on to any piece of this business possible. I spoke with Gametime in August and at that time they seemed like they were not willing to go down without a fight. It sounds as though NCA has made it official and everyone must book through Connection Housing. I'm sure they are trying to make the best of this situation but perhaps it could have been done earlier than now.

NCA ? you are being rather stupid. let people stay where they choose. do they not realize that some people cant afford those nice hotels? and prefer motels because they are cheaper? to me this whole you have to stay where we say is stupid. people stay close because of convenience not because of price. this just aggravates me.
like in gymnastics they didnt care where you stayed as long as you got there on time but these cheer gyms want you to stay in specific hotels and stuff and that just bothers me.

Although this is the NCA policy it could be driven by the city of Dallas or the Convertion Center. This is classified as a "city wide" convention and my guess is they are following the guidelines in their venue contract. I have only been to NCA one other time. It was a "stay to play" event last year too but I had heard many teams booked hotels on their own and circumvented the system.

true but it still makes me mad haha

I love the comments about how stupid NCA is. Justin carrier has been saying for the past couple seasons that NCA is trying to gain city wide status.
"City Wide" means they sell enough hotel rooms to be able to reserve the DCC for the dates they want years in advance.

If not, then there is always the risk of being kicked out of the DCC when a bigger event comes to town. Or, be on the same weekend as cheersport like it was a few years ago.

The only way they can do this is to keep close numbers on the hotel rooms with a housing agency.

Guess NCA isn't so stupid.

I don't think it is a case of stupid or not stupid. I think it is a case of offer a WIDE range of hotel pricing options. Not everyone, me, can afford even $150 a night. So find me a clean place for $65 or so. Give options of places with kitchens. I am just saying cater to ALL customers.
