Tumbling on Hardwood floor isnt even that bad...
Honestly,!! That is how I learned! Some of the older High Schools and Middle Schools in my hometown, had Great hardwood floors that almost bent when tumbling on them! I loved the feeling of it! Probably wasn't helpful for my knees, and ankles of today, but you know, we all started somewhere!Haaaaaaaaa!:fro:

It kind of forces you to use correct technique...

EXACTLY!!!!!!! I never tumbled wrong, i just wanted to always be correct, and I teach it today.... Who wants BHSP's with crazy arms, or crazy tumbling beyond that with form-that is not good!:fro:

I threw a full through full on hardwood for states. We can't do anything harder than fulls on gym floor tho :(

Speak for yourself. I had a hard enough time going from a spring floor to a dead mat for high school. I shutter at the thought of doing all that on hardwoods.

What you might find easy, others might struggle with. Obviously, these Brooke girls had no difficulty with it!

I went from hardwood, to dead mat, to spring floor so maybe thats why its not as hard as someone going from spring to dead mat. But I will say this, my tumbling definitely got lazier, you dont have to try as hard lol.

I always thought that hard wood floor gave more bounce then dead mat so it was easier plus in high school the only mat we had to practice on was a wrestling mat. I think that is why many teams at NCA college sometimes do better on the Bandshell then the Ocean Center because there is wood under the mat instead of concrete.
I do agree that if you tumble on hard wood you quickly learn to use the right technique because if you mess up it is going to hurt big time.

I mean I guess. I threw my standing tuck, round off bhs tuck and layout by myself for the first time on hardwood floors. I was frustrated with busting and I knew that the consequence of busting on a gym floor would hurt more than a spring floor thus I went out of my way to not be lazy and used perfect technique.

That being said.....I still cringe when I see Brooke videos

The only problem with the bandshell in Daytona is when you're used to a dead floor, the bounciness of the stage (which we've explained to rookies as almost, but not quite, like a spring floor) can mess some tumblers up. It definitely did to a few girls from our team who didn't have much all-start experience.

Yeah I think the ones that tend to love the Bandshell are athletes who have had experience on a spring floor so the bounce works for them.

Ooh Brooke. My body hurts every time I watch your vids..and my soul rejoices at your awesome.

..Side note: Please tell me there are SOME musical-obsessed people on here who think 'Chicago' every time they read the title. First words that pop into my head whenever I glance at it are 'Fair dealing..pure ethics and nice manners.'

I used to be on Basics :) but when I was going to be a freshman, I was given a choice to do Brooke or Basics. Now I cheer for Brooke and honestly, people think I'm crazy, but choosing Brooke over Basics was probably the best decision of my life.
