All-Star A Growing Issue... I.e. Crossovers On Worlds Teams (for Bid Obtaining Purposes)

I will gladly go post it in another thread. Somebody hit me up..
I'm not going there, a call out doesn't remedy the problem. Especially in years past & bids have already been awarded this year.

..So I repeat my original statement: Can somebody PM me who's doing this? Also because we've got Worlds brackets coming up and I'd hate to chuck in a wild card bronze team that's ACTUALLY made up of level 4/restricted 5 kids. I did SO well this year..

If someone decides to call out programs, I hope they do it in another thread. A productive conversation is going on here and as soon as teams get called out we lose that focus.

Great point! as it will easily identify those on the board that are trying to help the sport and fix a problem and those that are wanting to create drama! There are some very smart leaders in the industry here giving suggestions where do we go with them?

It's a rules process year. If you are a coach/gym owner, you make it known loud and clear to all you know exactly who is doing this, and where they got their bid and with what teams even if you don't call out names. I had NO idea people even did this, although I always thought the substitution rule was kinda whack and I'm NOT a coach..always seemed so easy to get around it.

If you aren't a coach, you bring this to the attention of the coach of your/your child's team so that they know, and if they do know about this practice already, they realize the extent of the problem and how much it's affecting teams.

ETA: I totally figured it out. Blues Clues Moment.

This is one example of misuse in the substitution rule. Having worlds tryout to potentially restack your team occurs as well

Technically not misuse. It is legal but I don't think that practice should occur as well.

It is ironic to me that this rule was put in place to stop the across the country fly in crossovers just for Worlds type situations that was occuring before. If your team didn't get a Worlds bid in Montanna for example, you could fly in and compete with another program in Hawaii just for Worlds for example. (I am trying to use states that do not have the type of super powered mega death unless we win Worlds all star teams to do this:)) So what happens? Find another way around the rules. I guess they believe in the mottoes "if you aint cheating ya aint trying" and "it is only cheating if ya get caught."

And they can usually always avoid getting called out publicly and cheer shamed. Which it still seems some programs can get away with not being called out yet they or their fans will call out any other program if their bow is not on their head properly.:banghead:

BlueCat that's great for Worlds - but the problem would still exist of teams using athletes from teams with bids already to secure more bids. Right?
It wouldn't solve it, but it would cut it back a bit. You would have to use more of your regular team to earn your bid.

you are my new best friend. <3

Violating the "spirit" of the rule, but not the actual wording of the rule - that is celebrated as genius if you are talking about safety guidelines, but vilified as cheating/unethical/tacky if it is an eligibility rule. The truth is probably a combination or somewhere in between.

I think it also depends on the situation. I think the difference is the fact that over $20k was on the line here. This gym can basically offer a free ride to worlds for 10 athletes that weren't even on a team for the entire season.

and what happens to those 10 athetes that those new 10 are replacing??? as a parent, i would be outraged. all for the cost of gaining a globe? pathetic...

Well look where we are having this conversation... In an environment that would become increasingly hostile at the mere mention of the PROVEN culprits, yet alone allegations.

I will say this: there are hundreds of programs who could do this and they do not. Maybe because of moral standing? Maybe because of breadth of talent? Not sure, but they don't do it.

In the case of CEA, I do not applaud habitual line stepping. I do not praise individuals who actions always need explanations and clarifications. This cannot be spun as business savvy or innovation, this is monopolizing. Taking opportunities from true talent for self praise and recognition.

What's done is done, but moving forward new rules have to be in place to stop all of this tip toeing.
