Why is it that "Boys Must Stunt"? I kind of feel like that enforces stereotypes like a guy has to take out the trash and the girl has to wash the dishes.

You make a good point, I mean we don't force bigger girls with great stunting skills to tumble, right? But, I still think it should be a requirement- within reason. I like what King suggested with the 50% rule. When you're putting boys on a team, make it a little more like it used to be- half stunters, half tumblers.

It is NOT about getting rid of tumblers. Its that all boys arent tumblers. You gotta balance it with stunters.

Thanks man!

Do you HAVE to? Well, if its being rewarded this year, and no one is, uhh..... why not be the one? Seems like an advantage to me.

PS - Rockstar is getting better and better.

Why not.....well I keep my butt over on the tumbling side of the gym!!! hahahaha thank you very much! 6 National Champs this year out of 15 and only our 3rd year!!! I'll take it!!

What if you had at least one boy on your team they must coed stunt to get within range for stunt difficulty. I dont mean toss hands extension with a large all girl base... I mean truly doing a toss stunt dismount.

Then it wouldnt matter if an all girl team competed against a coed team.

That doesn't really give boys any learning room though. They can't compete until they can do an unassisted toss stunt? I see your point, but I still think that even as something as simple as a toss lib is a lot harder than the all-girl equivalent.

Learning room? Isnt that what the lower levels are for?

I've yet to see a small small coed team do ANY coed stunting...??? Who have you seen tossing a stunt in that division and do you think you "HAVE" to in that division..?? Also, I finally just saw some of your teams from this weekend, looking good!!!

Well sure, but you didn't say just level 5 in your original post.

Unless I read you wrong doesn't that back up what I said? If it is not just level 5 then all levels are gonna push coed stunts.

Well what level is toss hands an appropriate skill, for example? It takes some boys a long time to be consistent with that. If I were a coach I wouldn't put my boy in the routine if we're going to get deducted for him not doing level appropriate coed stunts - and I certainly wouldn't have him do a skill that wasn't consistent just because he needs to do it for the routine.

I don't know how we would score a two-man versus a true coed stunt versus an all girl stunt based on difficulty unless you go to a standardized score sheet with skills set at a specific difficulty level and points rewarded for a specific entry and dismount.

A toss hands is a level 2 skill. A hands lib is a level 3 skill. A toss lib would be a level 4 skill. An entry lib would be level 5.

If there are ways for a gym to get an advantage and win by starting to teach and use those skills, then you will see a change pretty quickly.

I still don't think coed vs ag is fair. (Even though you prove me wrong from this past weekend, congrats again lol). Just one stunt doesn't eliminate the advantages males bring to a team. I completely disagree combining coed/ag divisions in any way. YES, it would levelish the "stunt" section but not in the tumbling, pyramid and basket categories that males give an unfair advantage not to mention the "other" stunts they would be involved in. JMO

BUT, I am all in favor for more males stunting like MEN. Coed stunts are what males should be doing, not just used as BEAST back spots, bases.

And how do actual MEN stunt? What would one have to do be a MAN?

Im all for actual partner stunting but completely disagree with the way you chose to word that....

I come from a college cheerleading background, so I'm all for rewarding coed stunting, I just don't think it should be required. There are some people that just can't tumble, and their are some who just can't and won't be able to coed stunt.

Agreed that some will never be able to. But why does that matter if some will never be able to? Level 5 is supposed to be difficult to win. Level 4 should also be difficult (just not as hard as level 5). All the way down the line. Why is it bad to add something to the level to make it more difficult a bad thing?

I have this feeling people keep thinking I want tumbler boys to go away or not be worth anything. UNTRUE! Its just that instead of being ALL the types of boys you get I think it should be about half and the other half tumblers. Then we just doubled the type of boys in cheer.

Ok you bring up a perfect point.... why coed stunt??? At worlds you get a 5 point bonus for doing a toss to the top multiple body positions and a level 5 exit.... so this year had 1 boy coed stunt... did a elite entry in my opinion, then poped off.... but now looks look closely... only 1 boy did it, it bobbled, and he poped down..... so as a judge he might have gotten 1 out of the 5 points possible because only one boy did it... so it wasnt majority but he bobbled so the team lost MANY more points in execution..... so.... who in the top 5 right now can put up at least 3 toss to the top... at least 2 body positions and at least a full down.... that seems like the only way to get 4 out of the 5 points????
