OT Cheerleader Called "chunky"

This entire thread just shocks and disgusts me a little bit. No wonder we have such a problem with image now a days.
Stranger things have happened on Fierceboard though I suppose!

No. People like the blogger make people think that is okay to do it.
People like me understand that this kind of criticism exists in society, but to let that make or break you is senseless.
People like me understand that professional cheerleaders get slammed for not being lean and toned and its the nature of their industry arguably due to their skimpy outfits and because they're physically (in all capacities) are supposed to appeal to the audience
You have got to understand that people are going to have an opinion about these kinds of things whether its good or bad.

You know you are trying to make it sound like you just understand society better but this is what your first response was:
"Guess I'm in the minority. When this story firs popped up and I was with my family (lots of males) and the consensus was yes she was "chunky", yes she needs to tone esp of she's going to be in the profession that she is in."
Whether she is toned or not is none of your business and that fact that you are trying to make it sound like you have a better understanding than everyone else is really just laughable - just excuses for a rude first comment about a women you do not know and have no business judging.

You all are just being argumentative for the sake of being argumentative.

But that's exactly what you're doing. You've been presented with many eloquent, well thought out arguments and you've literally been using the exact same one or two arguments to refute them, just with slightly modified wording.
Also, just because something exists in society, doesn't mean it has to. We are society and are therefore perfectly capable of changing society's view point on matters such as these. Yes, such criticisms come with the territory when you're in an industry such as professional cheerleading. However, that's only because we allow it. If we stop allowing it, which is what many people here are trying to argue for, then it won't just "come with the territory". Maybe it's an optimistic view point and of course it wouldn't be easy to change such a thing but it is entirely possible.

Sigh. Ok, I live in Tulsa. Cp goes to surrounding schools. I love Basketball and especially the Thunder. Kelsey doesn't need to tone up. She isn't comparable to Kim Kardashian or Adele. Those ladies are large nonathletic people who aren't size four even if they removed ribs.
I seen her and the rest of the Thunder girls and they work as hard or harder than T&S so this is an attack on her abilities as well as her choices and I personally am disgusted. None of us personally know her, how ever, I watched when she got first picked. She lives near by. This isn't about her.
Its about the same thing I lecture cp about when she whines about body image.
She's beautiful. No matter what anyone says. Yes she's getting abs. I wish I had them but it won't happen for me. She's getting guns. She's still beautiful.
I wish I go afford the drive to Edmond or Dallas and the fees. I can't. :(
Same with Kelsey. Size four is still small and beautiful. She's an adult and about I think late twenties early thirties. She might not be able too anymore.
Yet, we continue to engage in the politics of self destruction and bullying why? Because we think we are right and we aren't.
My opinion of that writer in the Houston is that she's jealous that she didn't get a spot herself so she attacked.
This needs to end all across the board. No one has the right to say your chunky or untoned unless you allow them. I don't like it when coaches do it. I certainly think strangers (yes journalists are that) don't merit that. We has lost our civility. Our ability to tell when something isn't appropriate to say and is a vulgar opinion kept to ourselves. We have also lost our tolerance.
Its a sad word we are in now.
Heres a Though your argument is invalid simply because its an opinion based on your personal supposition. Its a straw-man and it makes you appear to be Shrek. (you know the troll). Unless you can show, you know Kelsey personally, you don't have a right to suggest she needs to be toned. She worked hard for her spot. She earned it. Anything else is malicious gossip that has no place in polite discourse.

The CBS Houston sports blogger who came under fire for questioning whether an Oklahoma City Thunder Girl was “too chunky” to be an NBA cheerleader has been fired.
A spokeswoman for CBS Radio confirmed the firing to ABCNews.com today but declined to release any further details, saying only, “The blogger who wrote the story is no longer working with the station.”
The blogger, “Claire Crawford,” targeted Oklahoma City Thunder cheerleader Kelsey Williams’ looks on the court after the Houston Rockets faced off against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the NBA playoffs.
The Houston Chronicle reported that Crawford was a pseudonym for Anna-Megan Raley, who once blogged for the paper and posted a video of her audition to be a Houston Dynamo soccer team cheerleader. The spokeswoman for CBS Radio would not release the blogger’s name or comment on the Chronicle’s report.

Looks like there is respect after all.
