There is a discrepancy on how the Visa was obtained and what Dylan was allowed to do with the Visa. According to his dad, he did the work for the Visa and it allowed Dylan to go anywhere in the US for a year. If you read the email from Eddie to Dylan's dad before it was removed, my perception was a veiled threat to contact INS. As far as Dylan's dad "bashing" some Smoed athletes, these were athletes who had some not so nice commentary about his son. I'm not defending his actions, but unless your a parent and find yourself in this situation trying to provide help and support to your child while being basically another world away, who are we to judge his reaction.
Okay the visa thing makes a little more sense now, I missed the part where the dad said that it was he and not Cali that worked on obtaining the visa. My heart hurts for that whole family. No matter how things went down, Dylan did not deserve any of this. He's just a kid trying to live out his dream. And true, I'm 20 years old and thankfully not a parent, so I obviously can't actually grasp how difficult this must be for Dylan's dad. But I still think a tiny little bit less of him for what he said about that girl. Was she wrong to blame Dylan? Absolutely, but she's still practically a kid and he's an adult. So to me, he was in the wrong also. Especially, I feel, in his posting of that on fb where it's quite frowned upon to talk ill of other people's CPs. She's someone's kid too. When the day arrives that I do have children and can grasp just a little bit better how Dylan's dad is feeling, I probably will have a different view on the matter and relate more to him maybe. But in the present, I can only relate to the teenagers, which includes all of the Smoed kids. I feel for Dylan and all he's dealing with right now, hopefully his CEA family can stand in for his parents and lift him up. I feel for Jessica because she gave up her dream school for another dream that is now shattered. I feel for the kids on Smoed who love their coaches and are protective of their team and sometimes let emotions get the best of them (like all teenagers do). Their world (well cheer world) is in shambles because of this, which pretty much is Cali's fault because the show blew the whole issue up and is going to make it hard for all involved to move on, but it still must be hard for them, even though they said harsh things to and about Dylan that should be privately apologized for.

If we are taking sides I am 100% team @Weezy . Just read through 50 pages in this thread and absolutely every one of your posts is on point :cheering:

I have never eye rolled about anyone as much as I do this person.

Like I just wish they would shut up

(I'm sure some of yall could say the same about me and im ok with that)

But really please part of the reason I don't like them anymore is because of you and like you don't even go there ...

You just make it worse

instead of whining and complaining so helplessly, you should try to be more proactive:

btw, most people here dont go to cali and 99.9% dont know the person currently being discussed/defended.

Did you hit your goal with being most negative ratings? I'll help you get there if you want. I've been ignoring your posts for the most part because I don't particularly care for handing out negative ratings, but if you want them, I'll help ya out.

shhh. im trying to help her. :)

This is actually really interesting to me. I just looked up the info regarding the visa required to be a foreign athlete on a team in the US. I can see why the wording was how it was in the email that was posted. It actually does make me wonder about the new Worlds rule, but in a different way than has been mentioned previously. It seems like the rule could be an attempt at leveling the playing field. For example, an international athlete couldn't obtain a p-1 visa to join the Worlds team at my daughter's gym because they have not won Worlds numerous times...one of the qualifications for the visa is joining an internationally recognized, award-winning team. P-1A Internationally Recognized Athlete | USCIS

Eta: an athlete wouldn't need this to commute to a team, obviously. A Canadian should still be able to join a US team and attend practices without relocating.
A P1 visa is not the only visa that allows you to compete on a team & they are extremely difficult to get. Pretty much only professional athletes are granted these. There is also absolutely no way you can get one in 3 weeks unless you already have ALL the required documentation ready to go & even then it will almost always take a lot longer.

Because you talk so much I would never be able to follow what's being said in the thread if I put you on ignore

Also- it's INCREDIBLY difficult to deal with these types of situations when you're not only miles away, but in completely different time zones.

When my ex broke up with me while we were in Italy, it was nearly impossible to talk to anyone until I got home because I was in a totally different time zone and didn't have my laptop/phone. Either someone was asleep or at work or not near reception etc.
Wow that's a harsh way to become single.

I don't understand what you're saying! Is this not the Visa he has? Or are you saying something else? Totally not meaning to be argumentative. :) Everything I know about this is based on a quick Google search, so I'm clearly not an expert. Just trying to understand the situation out of curiosity.

I'm confused on why it was so wrong for them to say they were going to contact immigration? If they were a part of getting his proper documentation and had signed something saying Dylan would be at Cali training for the duration of his stay in the US and then Dylan left to fly across the country to NC for the duration of his stay, how is it so wrong? The terms of his legal ability to be in the US were no longer met. Had something happened to him or had he done something illegal in NC wouldn't that leave Tannaz and Eddie partially responsible?

I am afraid you are incorrect. CA was not part of getting the proper documentation together other than providing a letter of support noting that they will be covering his tuition. Exact wording...'California All-Stars is happy to offer Dylan a coveted spot on our roster based on his exceptional athletic talent, outstanding tumbling ability and knowledge of co-ed partner stunts. We will waive his tuition to participate based on these abilities' and asking the host family to write a letter (something I also asked the host family to do) The letter from CA also noted 'Dylan and his family are clear that that outside
of lodging, meals and our team fees that we have waived he will be responsible for his own personal expenses'
etc
I was put in touch with persons to confirm what documentation was required however had already done my research and contacted immigration on several occasions to find this out myself. I also did ALL the liaising with said parties to get the documentation correct.
We had 8 supporting docs for his visa application, 6 of which I personally arranged & got together as we only had one shot at it.

There was nothing signed like you mention, no contract & absolutely no restrictions on having to stay at CA or in any part of the country for the duration of his stay. The terms of his legal ability to reside in the USA were never ever breached in any way. The email was just a hollow threat in an attempt to intimidate him into staying at CA. Nothing more, nothing less.

Hahaha I don't see it as argumentative at all :)
I was not an expert on visa's either at the time but I became one very quickly even helping another athlete getting the right documentation for a visa after Dylan. In answer to your first question...No ;) I am sure everyone can figure it out for themselves.

Good. I didn't want to come off like I was cross-examining you. Lol! Moving great distances for sports is fascinating to me. None of my children have ever been in a situation where I'd have to even consider the possibility.
