I've never really been a Smoed Fan. I watch the show because its an inside look into american gyms and practices, which is interesting if you are from Europe. I think that this show most probably changed the people who are on it a lot, that is just what Fame does to people.
To me, Smoed is just one very talented Team out of a whole bunch of amazing Teams. So if someone doesn't feel like he or she belongs on that Team, for whatever reason, there are still great Teams out there, and people need to accept that their Team may not be as amazing, special or unbeatable to someone else as it is to them. Sometimes it takes a while to realize you are not happy with a situation, and leaving doesn't always mean people ''couldn't handle the practices'' .So saying mean things about a person who is/was in that situation on social media and therefore decided to leave is definitly not the right thing to do, especially not for Coaches. Way to look unprofessional

The difference between this thread and other threads is that the minors who are misbehaving aren't specifically mentioned by name (minus the positives about the two boys who left, and we've just been calling them T&S and Kiwi for half of it). The only names I've specifically seen dropped are 4 adults: two former athletes and two coaches. We're discussing a group of athlete's behaviors. Being as this type of behavior has happened AGAIN- it's concerning that a high-profile group of athlete has an almost cultish view of their team, and it's definitely a topic for discussion (20 pages long).

I'm going to go carve a pumpkin now.

The question that is really interesting to me:

If someone decides to leave California Allstars and is not going back to their "home" gym - how do they get in contact with these other big name gyms they end cheering at.

Like a girl quits mid-season and ends up on another big name gyms team a couple weeks later. Rumor has it that CA helped with the transfer.

Now there is a boy who wasn't happy at CA (and that's his right to decide) ending up on another big name gym. Did they get the "news" he's willing to switch and offered him a spot? Did he or his parents ask if there was a spot open?

Or do friends from the cheer community help with these transfers?

Just curious - i don't judge, because you never know what really happened. I've learned that the truth most times lies between the storys from both sides.

Still - quitting a team and going home to the gym i came from makes totally sense. Going somewhere else can't be that easy, especially after tryouts?

I'm willing to bet it starts with friends. Everyone knows everyone in cheering it seems....at least on social media. They know someone at that gym who either tells them about openings, or the other friend mentions how they are unhappy with their current team. The friend sends the word up the chain to coaches and room is made or the athlete fills in an opening.

You know those "We need an extra boy on Large Coed 5" tweets and such that get sent when a gym is in need of someone?

Kids who know someone who cheers there get to those a lot of times before they even get sent out.

Sort of like how companies often fill positions BEFORE they ever get publicly posted.

I was at the gym today (YMCA not cheer gym) listening to the Les Miserables soundtrack and low and behold I heard "snakes in the grass" when Javert gets found out by the French rebels when he tries to go undercover. Then I silently chuckled to myself as I pictured ho-hos and twinkies fighting over whose the most beloved snack.
