I read an article somewhere online recently that said that kids/teens nowadays are having fewer friends but they're much closer with those they DO have. Part of the social media over sharing, the constant texting access (who here remembers having to wait for a phone call to talk to ONE friend at a time?), means kids attempt to build strong bonds faster than is probably logical.

I agree. I totally understand that these kids and coaches are going to be at least a bit upset and may even go as far to feel betrayed, but do they not realize they're saying all this stuff in front of cameras? They totally have the right to be angry, but whatever happened to venting to your parents or significant other or best friend and not taking it to Twitter or having it air on a super popular webshow. Have I ever gotten pissed at my teammates? Hell yeah I have. Did I ever post about it on facebook or complained to other teammates? Absolutely not.
Going off of the info from both sides, if Dylan felt uncomfortable and unhappy at the gym, he has the right to leave and I wouldn't get angry at an athlete for doing that. However, if an athlete did leave suddenly, an explanation would have been a mature thing to do. (Going off the assumption that he did not answer phone calls.)
And lastly, just because a friend seems fine and dandy at practice doesn't mean they're all fine and dandy. Granted I don't know the extent of their friendship, but it is easy to bury any personal feelings at practice when you can focus on working hard and making your stunts hit.

They are saying this stuff in front of the camera (probably egged on by the producers) to create conflict and drama. Drama equals interest which equals views and app downloads which equals a happy AwesomenessTV.
They may actually feel this way (and judging by their social media it appears most of them do) but I think it's pretty obvious why they want to air it. Just look at the number of people who have downloaded their app from this discussion alone.
Edited to add: I'm not saying any of this is right at all, but just providing insight as to why they would do what they do. IE, Gabi was a well liked and prominent member of the "show", "fans" want a proper and happy farewell to her. These new "characters" were still relatively unknown, lets send them down in flames to create conflict. (How will Smoed pull through this time? STAY TUNED)

It's also a reality web show. You kinda have to be transparent. "no comment" isn't going to cut it.

I also don't feel bad for smoed, but i also don't feel bad about Dylan either. It'll all blow over ....

I don't feel that bad for Smoed either - their fame has enabled them to attract amazing big name athletes from all over the world - they have Angel Rice for crying out loud ;), - I think they can handle the loss of one boy in November. That boy who didn't make it that they have replacing him looked really good - I wish my CP's team had a supply of alternate boys w/ jumps to a full, whip doubles, etc. to chose from when people quit her teams!

Not necessarily. When Jenee left, Eddie basically said "You know her mom decided there things she didn't like, so Jenee was pulled..." not direct quote, but the jist of it. He never went into detail, she wasn't really bashed in the episode (only on twitter), and that was that. Gabi leaves, and we all know it was for her family, but coaches took the same approach only adding, "You know she's still a kid," justifying her decision to leave. Again, no bashing...I'm not even sure she got anything hateful on twitter.
Tyler comes around and it's "Well, I didn't think he's make it anyway," and he left because he missed home.
Dylan leaves and it's "OMG how could he! He is the awful, devil, horrible person....ahhhhhhhhh".
With Tyler it could have just been, "He decided he wanted to go back home and cheer there, he was homesick."
Dylan could have been, "He decided this wasn't the right program fit for him, and he's no longer on the team. Now let me introduce you to Jacob."
Still a 'no comment' approach without the hateful bashing of a teenage boy.

This would explain why that one boy decided it would be better to LIE about his parents not signing the release form over just saying he didn't want to cheer. I don't watch the show but threatening a 17 year old with a legit Visa with deportation sounds like harassment to me, which equals bullying behavior.

What i don't understand is how Smoed is supposed to be one of those teams that super strong and are used to change... this is confusing me. I broke my hand in october, and we had an extra on the team learn all my stunting spots for our showcase in 1 1/2 weeks. Yes, we're only level 3, but it still applies. She learned all of my spots in like 2 practices, and stunts were hitting like normal. We also had a girl quit in august and had a different extra take her basing spot, and she learned quick too. We were sad she quit, yeah, but it isn't hard to replace people. I don't get it, if you're a super strong team, shouldn't you be able to adjust to change? Change = Cheer, your routine changes about a billion times, people come in and out all season, and they, out of all teams, should be used to that...:confused:

I think this is where geling as a group can play a huge factor. I faced this in dance, but I imagine in cheer it's a million times harder with stunting because it's not just about looking the same, but reacting the same. This season, as an outside looking in, seems like a team of few with mostly individuals. Yes, they have/had some powerhouses that are absolutely amazing and amazing to watch, BUT that doesn't make a team. If there is the backstage drama (which is what is being accused), then the ability to adapt to change then changes and the team doesn't gel as one. 20 individually amazing athletes does not automatically mean a team worthy of Gold at World's. Past seasons made the team look/act more cohesive and the entire vibe of Season 3 has been the complete opposite of that same cohesion.

I don't know... did anyone really bash him on the episode. I don't know maybe because I am from New York, but I don't think anyone said anything really offensive on the show anyway.
Maybe on twitter, sure, but I wouldn't know. I don't have time for that lol.

All i can think of as i read this is Trinity. That cheer team had some amazing people on it with amazing skills but it didn't work. Stacking a team isn't always a good thing

I'd have to rewatch the episode to actually count the amount of bashing, but imo, absolutely. Especially coming from the coaches; I'm not giving the teenagers a free pass but they're still children, but coaches alone...yes, they both bashed Dylan as a person and as an athlete.
