I'd be upset if our gym didn't travel to big comps.

Anything I say about why we like traveling would make me look cocky though so I'll keep it to myself.

But you have great comps against some of the top teams right there in your backyard. So you do get great competition. Even NCA and Cheersport aren't best of the best because, except for worlds teams, they divide up those divisions and have different judging panels for each so are you really "the best"? (Nothing against you are your vipers teams which are amazing! I'm just saying...there really is no way to say "we are the best in the country" in this sport or even feel like it ...except maybe Worlds)

But that's only worlds level 5 and 6 that are eligible?!Are you really the best in the country if all your lower levels suck?
(Not saying yours or CEAs lower level suck but I don't know why you have to have a worlds team to be the best in the country)
All our teams are going to the summit and they don't divide those divisions either so I don't think worlds is the only way you should be able to say you're the best in the country.

So what you are allaying is that the other gyms in your area suck and you need to travel for real competition at anything below a worlds level?

*My tolerance for stupidity is steadily dwindling**

No no no...you are misunderstanding. I'm not saying you have to be 5 or 6 to be best...but there really is no comp that says "you're best" for lower levels. Yeah they don't combine at summit...but a lot of program's don't go and others sandbag/stack.
K- Vipers are amazing. I don't discount them at all.

I think his posts (and my feeling too) make it very clear that a bid is not the only reason for attending a bid comp (see above discussing lack of competition in the North) The point is that attending multiple bid comps can get very expensive...far more than the 650...so if you are in an area where you don't need your families to travel so much for that "level of competition"...why do it?

Yes I know so well there is a lack of competition in the North hence the traveling that we did Plus what EP scoresheet favored a gym's particular style.

No I'm playing on her words? I get the feeling that you can't say your the best unless you go to worlds.

So only teams with worlds team can say they are the best.

And I'm questioning do gyms with worlds teams who have crappy lower levels get to say they are the best in the country? I don't think so.

And no pretty sure we compete against sprit of Texas regularly and they don't suck.

They also go to big competitions like us.

That's not your fault...That's the industry's fault. You can't say you're the best unless you compete against ALL of the teams across the country in your division. No division splits...no stacking...no sandbagging. That doesn't exist at any level in this "sport". But at this stage...Worlds is the closest for level 5 v 5 and 6 v 6. I'm not saying 5 is better than 2 or 3 or 4.... I'm just saying a true best of the best competition does NOT exist.

If it existed would your gym win? Very possibly! At multiple levels. You have a great program. But...it doesn't exist. That's all I'm saying.

Lower level teams typically don't travel as much I think because they have enough local competition within their own region. I would probably say that lower level teams maybe have 1 or 2 major comps that they have to travel to to compete outside their normal district region. Level 5 is much harder to find competition locally hence why the heavy travel price tag.

I know for the northeast there is a couple competitons that we could of gone to to see our competitors but didn't and I think it was more because of how those particular EP scored. Our routines weren't set up to be successful on those score sheets. (Ehum need for universal scoresheet industry wide).

Your gym doesn't make slight changes in the routine based on the style of scoresheet used?

In fairness the gym style favors a particular scoresheet but when we did compete on a different scoresheet - maybe minor changes were made but not enough to hit the scoresheet vs some teams that night make an over haul in their routines to hit the varying scoresheet for that given comp.

I think that the point is, what is reasonably and and affordable to one family is not reasonable and affordable to all families.

If CSP wants to make a schedule that that appeals more to the "can't" families than the "can" families...then it makes sense business wise because as it as been stated, the blue collar families that CANT afford to travel to hither and yon out number those who can.

Just because you can afford to buy flights early enough in the season to get decent fares for your family's financial ability, doesn't mean someone else on the teams family isn't spending all season robbing Peter to pay Paul to keep their as equally talented child in the sport.

Yes it seems strange that the announcement comes directly after her salty NCA post, but at the end of the day she knows her truth and she she knows what's best for her gym

Exactly.

That's the great thing about teams in Tx. So much competition. The options in the north are just not the same if you want to actually compete against other programs sometimes.

There are no World's bids comps in Colorado so we must travel. And we got our paid at the 2nd comp but still go out of state 3 more times. There is no competition in Colorado.

I am surprised they wouldn't make more charges to set the teams up to be successful or just avoid those comps. I know in the northeast it limits you on competitions.

Exactly!
And there is only 2 Worlds bid comp$in California too (crazy isn't it?). And for those teams in Northern Cal...that's a plane flight or very long drive away. (Now that gssa moved)
