well its not like teams get a bid and say "hey lets go to florida to get second last!" for some, believe it or not, its a fun competition for experience. and i know some totally hate that, but not everyone can pull a cali black ops and win worlds on their first time going. being on a team that doesn't really have a chance at a ring (and most likely won't ANY TIME soon..) i can still say worlds is soo much fun. its so awesome to compete against the best of the best and see all your favorite teams at one competition at such a fun place. to travel to worlds for me its quite a long and expensive flight (not even to mention the expenses at disney) and its definitely not cheap but its been worth it every single time. I'm sure many girls would GLADLY take 78th as opposed to not even getting the bid to get that opportunity.Maybe its just me but i wouldnt really want to make the long and expensive travel to get 78th

I guess my gym is just different. We have 4 teams going to the summit, and they wouldn't take us to just go have fun. Now i know the chances of all 4 of us winning (or even 1 team winning) isn't very likely, we still have a shot and would not go just for the experience. I mean its different for everyone (obviously some teams know they just can't win against big name teams such as brandon and smoed) but having goals for top 10 is still a possible goal and I just cannot imagine going 2,000 miles to get 70-90th place. I just feel like some teams go just to go and to say they competed at worlds, but then again this could just be how i see it sometimeswell its not like teams get a bid and say "hey lets go to florida to get second last!" for some, believe it or not, its a fun competition for experience. and i know some totally hate that, but not everyone can pull a cali black ops and win worlds on their first time going. being on a team that doesn't really have a chance at a ring (and most likely won't ANY TIME soon..) i can still say worlds is soo much fun. its so awesome to compete against the best of the best and see all your favorite teams at one competition at such a fun place. to travel to worlds for me its quite a long and expensive flight (not even to mention the expenses at disney) and its definitely not cheap but its been worth it every single time. i get it! like i said teams obviously don't go there hoping to get in the bottom 10. probably just different gyms! might be especially different since my gym doesn't send any teams to the summit so the ultimate goal for the young ones are worlds!I guess my gym is just different. There are college basketball teams who are thrilled beyond belief to get an invitation to the NCAA tournament. They don't turn down their invite simply because they are a 16 seed with no realistic chance of winning. Not every team has the same expectations - and that is OK.
In my opinion, Worlds is too big. I really don't think it's fair for all these teams to travel and pay out of pocket to go and compete ONCE. To me, that's such a waste of money. I get it's about the experience, but no. If they're only going to take the top 10 in prelims to go to semis, then they should only give out that many bids.

Yes but those individual athlete's parents aren't forking out over a $1000 for one weekend! The college with some million odd dollar alumni fund is. Just being realistic!
I wish it were only $1000. LOL...by the time the family flies down, hotels, car rental, tickets, etc, this will be a $3000 weekend for us. The memories are priceless though....my CP finally realized her dream last year. So proud of her and the whole LOVE team.Yes but those individual athlete's parents aren't forking out over a $1000 for one weekend! The college with some million odd dollar alumni fund is.
