A pictures or in this case a video was able to convey what a 1000 words would never have been able to.
Exactly. Until there is actually unsafe skills shown as a reference... then we can discuss all we want, but that doesnt have the same affect as actually seeing what is being discussed.

I don't think that thread was bullying, either. There were no personal vendettas being argued... rather a huge amount of concern that these kinds of situations are the ones that should be targeted by new rules - and not the elitest-of-the-elite tumbling skills.

I have no idea what you're talking about. But please refrain from naming programs or assuming what you think coaches are talking about. Let's remember what fierceboard is all about, building up our sport and not putting people down.
I am pretty sure this board is about discussion of our sport, and the discussion needs to include positive and negative. Both will allow our sport to progress further. The teams referenced are peforming elements that are putting their children at risk. This is an extremely valid topic of discussion.

I followed the thread from the start and besides a couple of snarky comments, everyone pretty much kept the discussion on target. Specific examples are necessary. I'd be HORRIFIED to be the example but it certainly would spur some major changes to what I put out there. Thankfully, I can confidently say all of my teams are appropriately leveled. I don't feel bad for the ones that aren't and get called out. You should know better than to put unsafe routines on a mat. Shame on the coaches, first and foremost. The buck stops with them on setting those teams up for disaster.

I disagree. If we can't use specific examples, the impact is reduced.

I promise that I will be just as brutal on an ACE team as I am on anyone else. Come sit with me and mstealtoyou at a comp and see what we say.

I am also just as brutal on an ACE team as I am anyone else. Kidding kidding. But, sometimes you just have to step back and say.........."We just didn't get the job done today......." (Our wording is different but this will work on a family board) I still stand by my posts on the other thread that said the routines we saw were unsafe. And according to my friends who sat through the first 3 hours of Sr level 5 at NCA on Saturday this is a widespread problem. Which is why the discussion is important and relevant and I think deserves to be talked about.

I think this IS a valid argument, but where it got personal and ugly were the snarky comments i.e: "Welcome to Splatsville..Population22." Etc. There were those who said they'd be embarrassed to be on that team, etc. I'm all for a discussion on throwing a skill because you can power through it vs. actually HAVING said skill and the safety concerns it creates. I do believe in bringing things to light, but there is a kinder way to do it. Those kids are harder on themselves then anyone on here is or needs to be.

EXACTLY the point of the first thread. The examples cited were for good reason. If the coaches aren't willing to properly level teams perhaps being called out will make them consider what they are doing. As another posted stated. We hear the good, the bad and the ugly about the "big" teams out there. If you are going level 5, it's all part of it. Throw in safety issues and that's an even more valid reason for these things to be discussed. A few weeks back a bigger name's gym was mentioned for having "scary fulls". This is what happens when teams are put into the worlds divisions. If the coaches and parents of certain teams don't like it. Then change it, make the routines more safe and appropriate to set your children up for success!

Can the poster who is sending nasty pm's please stop? It reflects badly on your team.
I agree that snarky remarks shouldn't be made in public - I did no such thing - but snarky remarks privately are not acceptable either. This is not directed at anyone who has posted on this CURRENT thread.

I think there's a way from blocking someone from PMing you if you want to go that route.

You can block someone if they are bothering you.

I must have seen the opening comments and breezed over that one. And it wasn't appropriate. BUT...The offending posts could have been deleted without deleting the entire thread.

Cut down the bad trees - don't kill the entire forest.

If you click on their name, there is an ignore feature. I'm sure this works for PM's as well as anything they post on the main boards
