Top Gun's girls have always been 'accused' of being 'unable to hold their own.' Whether or not it's true (I'm sure it isn't), TG's routines have done little to dissuade that notion, simply because it was in their favor scoresheet-wise to operate that way by utilizing their stronger male tumbling draw. However, with the new limit on guys and the need to balance coed stunting with tumbling, the girls will HAVE to do more in the routine. It will be interesting to see them develop their girl pool. Although I wonder why they DON'T have more all-girl teams...they have plenty of lower levels, or so it seems, so I can't imagine they're not generating the level-appropriate girls. Are the girls going elsewhere once they reach level 5? Anyone care to comment..I've always been curious about that. Is there an 'intimidation' factor because they 'knew' more guys would make it than girls which have kept them away/from trying out?
I don't think the intimidation is a factor. Well at least some of the other coed teams don't seem to have that problem.

I don't think "not willing to travel" is the real reason. Maybe for some but definitely not for many. Unless they all rather cheer for Orlando all-stars or Brandon? Bottom line, I just think many girls want to cheer in all girl teams and they know that that's not top gun's strongest side.
Maybe your right about them wanting a team with less boys that girls but...
Isn't LARGE COED 18 on boy and 18 on girls? So there is an even amount of both? And both with be inthe routine more right?

yes there may be 18 spots for both. but remember what Kristen said in their GK commercial about taking 2 steps back and 1 step forward. they just don't put girls and guys who just got their fulls or other required level 5 skills, those girls must be able to throw them consistently. so they may be particular in choosing athletes

Exactly, I think top gun is very picky when it comes to choosing their girls. They want the look and talent to win.

Top Gun's large coed girls can hold their own this year! I think they have a good combination of guys and girls on the team that can do everything well. They definitely have their big boy stunters that don't tumble and then their big girl tumblers - that don't fly.

As far as them not having an all girl 5 team...I think it's because their gym has always been able to make their boys shine (something that not every program can do well). If you look at their entire program - they have guys on many of their lower level teams as well. Back in the day when cheerleading teams in Miami were more concentrated (early 2000's) - Top Gun/Legend Large Senior was sick, as was the Top Gun/Legend Large Junior...However, so many small gyms have popped up in the area and all of the skill is so scattered around the area - it's hard to have multiple senior 5 teams in this area. Their program is growing extremely well, and now that they have incorporated a senior 3 team, a senior 4 team, a 5 restricted team, and have international level 5 teams - I think we will soon see the return of a Top Gun Senior 5 and a Top Gun Small Junior in the upcoming years...Maybe even the return of Top Gun Small Co-Ed (they were always VERY entertaining)!

I think it would be pretty neat if they had Large Coed 5 and Semi limited Coed 

There is medium coed..which is pretty much the same thing.
Well going from 12 guys to 6 guys is a pretty drastic difference to me.
I liked the inbetween on Semi. It allowed teams who didn't have 18 guys to be able to compete without going small. But oh well, it is what it is and I'm just going to have to get used to the whole division changes! It will definetly make things more exciting and competitive.
Can't wait till the first competition videos come out! But then again, all those routines will look different by the time Worlds rolls around. Teams take it to a whole new level at Worlds. Thats why its the best competition ever. (:

Im starting to think they Went back to Large coed 18 guys from 24 to make the coed division more intense so we wouldnt know the winning outcome everytime.. like getting rid of semi.. so that the big teams that were in the semi division would have no choice but to go to Large like Georgia, Cheer Athletics, and Ace.. Pro Cheer. and Ultimate Athletics i think.. which was actually very clever of them.. and the changed the number so that the guys could max out the guys and not have to be short a few...
and another this is im starting to think that GymTyme is Large because i know they would not go to medium with only 6 guys.. and there is no Semi so what else could they do.. put them all on international 5 and 6... those spots have to be filled..
