Hahah I have it on my ipod actually! I remember hearing it in Georgia All Stars mix once and it was stuck in my head forever.

Hahah!! I remember when my CP first started (she was 4). We would all be jammin out to some of the songs in the mix....especially "I can't drive 55"

Anyway, CP would get a puzzled look on her face and ask me "How do YOU know that song??" Ohhhhh dear CP, it was NOT just written for you to have in your routine!!

Have a nice day!

See I always saw your name as boogie smalls or something I really couldn't pronounce. But Biggie Smalls, now that's a whole new story all together.

I didn't learn it until the thread "what's the meaning of your username" where she spelled the pronounciation.

Hahaha

Nobody ever knows how to pronounce it haha. Thanks German ancestors!

Well lets turn it positive then. True confessions!

We attended (just to watch) a competition this weekend and it was the first time I'd been back in an arena with our original program (and if you've been around a bit you've heard some of the stories from the cray cray owner that boldly calls all of us who left her, Satan's Soldiers). No lie.

Anyway, it was not their typical competition seeing as how some power house gyms were there that she generally will not attend with to ensure she doesn't get beat. They're sortof a backyard bonanza sort of program.

That bring said, you know what? They did good! Their routines are much improved since we left (she's contracting that out now) the tumbling was more than I thought and those kids were really having a great time! They rocked it out! The parents were probably the loudest rowdiest of the competition and rather than relishing a beat down ...I was actually ...weirdly... sortof proud of them.

They had a lot of drama...they produce a lot of drama....they continue (4 years later) to be slanderous in the community. But, their cheer program is hanging tough. They market to a certain level if athlete (think rec cheer on steroids) and they did a great job. They didn't defeat the powerhouses, but the didn't look out of place either. They really should step up their schedule.

Well done, old gym.

It takes a big person to admit what you did and coming from someone who has left one gym for another gym, I give you a lot of credit for your assessment of your old gym. Your honesty was truly refreshing and was a bright spot in this thread!!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that!!

Cheer coaches, to me, would fall under the catagory of artistic....so sometimes their choice of words does fall on the artistic side!!

Ill also admit our first year away I would've been much more akin to the original post here. I just grew up a lot and realized that harboring all that negativity only really hurt me. I honestly think that's some sort of psychological process that just takes time to move through.

When I went to the first comp after leaving my gym, I was expecting the same old overreaching routines. I was shocked to see how much they had improved and continued to improve, to the point that I have considered returning to the program.
