I guess the moral of the story kids is that if you are going to sandbag, it probably would not be wise to do it for NCA. If you are that nervous about getting creamed at NCA, here is a novel concept: DON'T GO!! For crying out loud.... There's thousands of other competitions out there!

Due to the crossover rule for NCA I think this new rule will eliminate some smaller gyms from attending since all crossovers must be at the same level.....love the new rule though.

A team that was Youth 3 all year last year dropped to Youth 2 at NCA and won. It was a gym I have always respected until they did that. They probably wouldn't have won in the Level 3 division, but they were by no means a bad level 3 team. I wish NCA would write "won by sandbagging" on their jackets! lol

National Sandbagging Champions?

I agree that it's a GREAT rule! However, 1: to just drop a level and not compete at that level at least once would be stupid... you need to get any routine out there... especially when the memory in motion is kicking in... you don't need your girl that is suppsoed to layout to tuck or single full down to double full down just b/c they are preforming not really thinking 2: Maybe this will eliminate my least favorite thing... CROSSOVERS.... b/c people will drop levels b/c they have crossovers from like a Senior 4 to a Junior 3 or something like that.... then if they want both teams to compete at NCA nationals, they need to obviously drop a level since you can not...

Sr level 2, 3 yrs ago NCA. I would need to double check my records (cut and pasted prior comp results for the winning team, I still have them in my email lol), but I believe they competed 3...yes I said 3....levels down. Guess they REALLY wanted those NCA jackets.

Yup...they were a level 5 team...dropped to small senior 2 and won. @blunchin still hasn't gotten over it ;)

Regarding the level up question, I can't imagine that would be a problem. If a team is challenging itself, more power to them and there is no inherent advantage to them - as there is in a team dropping a level. Probably why it was not even addressed.
