I live in a huge neighborhood and our streets were lined with cars full of people from other neighborhoods. This was only our 2nd halloween not living in the middle of nowhere so it's weird to actually get trick or treaters.
One family came up, a little girl who had 2 bags and asked for candy for her brother....who was in a stroller and not even 3 months old.

Parents have no shame. And we wonder why so many kids are the way they are....

That's why we give out dum dums.

We plan for 500 kids due to our neighborhood being so big. We spend so much in candy and it's not to give it to adults and 3 week old babies who can't eat it. So they get dum dums.

I love that idea, it is brilliant.

I live in a small, mostly empty nester subdivision so my parents get few trick or treaters. After our first year there my mom just bought full size candy bars since we don't really need a giant bag of candy that will be leftovers.

We give candy to everyone. Parents, kids, teenagers or whoever. What the heck is a pretend costume? Pretty much every trick or treaters dresses up in store bought or homemade costumes. It's rare that someone comes without a costume.

Since Halloween really picks up over here, I've got some questions:

Do you give sweets to everyone - regardless of age?
Do any of you not participate in trick or treating? How do you make it clear to kids/teenagers?

Idk, I guess I'm okay with little kids going trick-or-treating, but it seems that teenagers around here think that it's an easy way to get sweets without much effort (= basically no costume, or a "pretend" costume). And for me October 31st is always Reformation Day, not Halloween, especially since Halloween only picked up around here when stores saw how much money they could make with it. So I guess I'd like to limit trick-or-treating to small kids, but how could I make that clear without sounding mean/grumpy?
We often get groups of teenagers who come to stock up on free candy.

I do feed them, but I also treat them the same way as I do the tiny children: "Ohhhh look at you guys! You look soooo scary! Be safe now, because there are lots of scary things out on Halloween night oooooh!" It's really fun for me.

They probably enjoy it too. Deep down inside ;).
The teenagers who were on the same TOT route as my 11 year old yesterday were on a mission to take all the candy from every bowl that was left out. So mine and his friend kept trying to stay one block ahead of them.

We actually had a teenager say "you only gave me one piece, can I have some more?"

Like no, we have hundreds of kids and If I give you more than one that means some other poor kid later won't get any. That's how bad our neighborhood is. We bought 5 huge bags of candy and if we would have handed out more than one, we would have ran out by 6:00.

Wow that's rude. We are taught to be thankful for what people give you. No one would dare to ask for more than what's given. I live in a small community so I know pretty much everyone that comes.

It took some digging, but here's a bear going as a student for Halloween:

UMMM DOES THAT KID KNOW THERES A BEAR BEHIND HIM????

I hope he did!
But I'd say the creepiest animal to make an appearance would have to be the Ball Pythons that randomly appeared a few times this year.

I can deal with snakes, they aren't a problem for me. But a bear? I'd prefer there to be a solid wall and bullet proof glass between me and him. An opossum would gross me out to no end. They are worse than all the rats in NYC combined. Eww eww eww.

Not going to lie, there are few things that are more terrifying than a bear walking past you on your way to work. But at least I can say I've had a staring contest with a bear.
Have come eye to eye with a black bear and was too stupid to know I should be afraid. It was just too cute.
