This is back when college cheerleading was REAL!! So how about a double twisting rewind? 1:20 check it out! Oh and yeah there are a few double flipping triple twisting fools too! Ah the good ole days!

Twisting rewinds... sigh. I never had a partner who twisted to the right so we never attempted too many.

I've seen plenty of rewinds go wrong. Flyer goes over the backs head. Flyer lands on stomach. etc.
But nothing too bad. Here's a funny vid of a stunt group attempting.

Can't see it. If you approach rewinds the right way they are not that difficult with a group. Going over the back of the stunt group is the flyers fault (she didn't stand up enough). Coming up short is usually a setting problem. There are two 'ways' people like to attempt rewinds. The 'UCA' way is mostly a straight up throw that goes very high but flips slower. The 'NCA' way is smoother set back that stands up in someones hands. I prefer the second way. Safer, less air time, becomes a one arm rewind much easier, and is way more consistent. (also takes less strength blah blah blha)

I don't see learning a rewind being any more dangerous than learning a full up.

First I would like to say that @Num1Stunta has been saying this for months and everyone always shot her down.

I think rewinds to Sponge or cradle should 100% be allowed. To extended level, I mean, they are doing the same thing, its just about technique and being able to keep it up there. I don't think we would see many teams hitting them to the top, but worth a shot.

Yes, THANK YOU RICH! I've always felt that it's illogical to have this progression:

Level 3- two hand connection
Level 4- one hand connection
Level 5- STILL one hand connection required!!

Take that hand away!!!!! :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but based on the way the rules are worded, wouldn't a back handspring up be legal for level 5 currently?

If L5 can already do this type of stunt, I feel like a rewind should be allowed.

I'm actually pretty sure that it could even qualify under Level 2... we've had this discussion before, but I don't remember what thread:)

It's not really. The 'only' reason it would be more dangerous right now is the general knowledge on how to teach a rewind isn't out there. But let us say the rewinds were legal tomorrow then 3 years down the line injuries from rewinds would be similar to injuries from full ups.

When I first started allstar in 06 at Rays I had never taught any allstars before. My background was college. I knew stunting... but not so much these level 5 rules. I was asked to teach Green a rewind that was legal in level 5. The whole idea of bracing a flip was new to me... so I taught them a for real rewind first and then tried to teach them to hold on. It was WAY easier not holding on and we moved on from that afterwards.

So what steps need to be taken to present this to the powers that be, as well as get it supported enough to get it to pass?

Someone will have to sponsor the Bill at a regional meeting with the rules are subject to the next cycle

Email Les today and ask.

I don't think rewinds are that difficult compared to full ups, etc - it's just technique. So long as the flyer sets back, drives the shins and 'rolls up' to stand as opposed to stoming down.. no moving backwards over their bases. It's just a case of committing to the stunt. I find braced rewinds harder to fly than unbraced.

I know plenty of bases here in the UK who wouldn't hesitate throwing a rewind but struggle with full ups. Weird.

Coed Elite beginning of the 2011 season did one arm assisted rewinds. The assist didn't help much.

I'm pretty sure that this past year at Cheersport, during the pyramid the flyers missed the connection and they did the rewind anyway...hit perfect!

I do remember that during their pyramid (there was a big discussion about it because people wondered why the flyer still did what she did), but he is talking about during the actual stunt they did assited rewinds.
