Cool! And good point.
What's the clap skate?
In speed skating, the back of the skate isn't truly attached to the boot. This allows it to stay in contact with the ice surface longer, giving the skater a longer push off the ice, hence going faster. As it leaves the surface of the ice, it "claps" back to the boot. They came into common use back in the 90's or so. Before this, the back of the skate was also attached to the boot, as with figure skates or hockey skates.
That was interesting.
Good point... I guess the word 'easier' is what gets me. I guess easier doesn't necessarily mean bad.Holding onto old techniques just because they are 'harder' doesn't make them any truer. If it is easier and scores the same why do anything else?

ha! If we suddenly get bonus points for putting up bigger flyers I'm in, my fierce less than dorito scorp is ready! :DIt is easier to lift smaller flyers, yet no one seems to have a problem with it or there is no one asking for bonus points for putting up larger flyers.
I feel like that's where the main problem people have against this new grip-the word "easier."Good point... I guess the word 'easier' is what gets me. I guess easier doesn't necessarily mean bad.

I mean, I still think that doing a half up while walking half is kind of dumb, but I completely understand using it for 1.5 ups and double ups. I will probably side eye the teams using it for just a full up.... but I completely understand why they're doing it.
