All-Star Thoughts On Mini 3?

Someone mentioned Y5 upthread.

I forget who posted it, but I think one of the Y5s (maybe Twinkles) has a minimum age for consideration (like you need to be cheer age 9?) @Pebbles49 ?

Plus...they'd never, hardly ever, get to compete against anyone. Back when cp was on mini2 I remember there were many comps where they were the only one in the division. Heck, I remember traveling to ATL for a 2 day comp (no, not Cheersport, lol) and they were the only M2! They won a blingy "Natl Champs" sweatshirt and everything. There's no fun in that! I can't even imagine what'd be like with a M3!!

In our area, Mini 2 is almost non-existent. Outside of the huge name gyms, no one I know even fields the team because there is no local competition for it.

We have a very talented mini 2 team this year at CP's gym this season and first time in her gym's history of 11 years that they have fielded a mini 2 team. Those kids are just that awesome.

Cool! I admire mini 2 but part of me thinks why? It's cool if they genuinly are that good and not a bunch of back headsprings. :)

Mini 3 no thanks. Maybe if mini age was raised to 9 but even then mini 1 & 2 is enough IMO.

I love mini 2

Every time we go to Houston we see a showdown of mini 2's and they are all amazing!!!

Woodlands elite mini ops
Was the second highest scoring level 2 last month.

Just behind our j2.

They scored a 94.35
Anyone who has been scored this year knows those scores are a lot harder to come by. Especially considering they out scored some levels all together hahaha

They are like so good!

I think woodlands could field a good mini 3 lol

A bunch of those kids spent two years on tinies together and two years on mini 1. We also have a large Y2 this year, too. Guess they just felt those group of kids on that team would be best suited for mini 2. Actually our mini 2 is going to Dallas this year, too, along with the older teams. Y2 is not. Our M2 just won high point at first comp for all of level 2, too.

CP is 6 and on a M2 team. It was a huge transition for her and I can't even imagine what the jump to M3 would be.. Our gym had a M3 team back in the day but no competition for them so they won everywhere they competed because they were the only team in their division. Even now, there are only 3 M2 teams in this part of the country.

No way. There are some gyms that will pick their teams based on default wins-and what divisions would have the least amount of competition. This would be a very scary division for kids that aren't ready for the higher skills and be pushed into throwing them way before they are ready.

Mini 3 was pretty much non existent in some areas so there was virtually no competition. Mini 2 have some competition but not a lot, but when they do its a show down!

The few mini 3's that I remember seeing were strong on tumbling but weak on stunting. I'm glad it's no longer a thing.

like youth 4 and 5, junior 4 and 5 and senior 1 and 2 sometimes 4.2? There aren't many gyms with youth 3, 4, and 5 and senior 1 and 2 and 4.2 in my area :P

9-11? That seems more reasonable. I would hate being that gym with a youth 5 team with a 5 year old and a 11 year old :P HUGE AGE GAP
