This sort Of behavior of the USASF just may just leave people thinking, "who cares, I'd rather compete for the Jamfest Global Championship."

Hey that isn't against the rules because they don't own the world Global.

darn I just gave them a good idea

Haha! True!

Off to trademark "global all star championship" and maybe "all star universe champions" while I am at it. :)

Are they going to put out a list of approved competitions? So confusing. I'm kind of happy we don't have a level 5. haha

If All Levels is a Varsity comp then who runs US Finals? I have a feeling that they will allow International All Levels since it is a Varsity comp, but if Varsity has no part in US Finals then I see them saying no to that. Which would make it even more of an obvious fishy move since the two have the same basic idea. I am very interested to see how this all plays out because it could get awfully nasty.

Varsity Spirit Corporation owns the registrations for "World Cheerleading Championship", "World School Cheerleading Championship", "World University Cheerleading Championship", and "USA United Spirit Association"

Varsity OWNS those terms/phrases.
Does this mean they eventually plan to make a worlds for school teams and college teams?

Dear USASF,

As a parent who considered paying for my child to cheer, I want to thank you for making up my mind to find him a different sport. There are many other sports that offer competition and life lessons without me spending thousands to end up in the middle of your competition drama. In the end, the only thing hurt by your ever-growing ego is the sport.

Sincerely,
A Very Pissed Off Mom

I'm fairly certain Jamfest owns the US Finals. I only say this because when we have won Jamfest the past few years we are given "bids" to the US finals.

this is truly what the USASF is gonna end up doing, but $$$ brings out the worst in people.

Before we all get extremely emotional and aggrivated at the USASF. Maybe we can get some clarification as to what we (members) are prohibited from. the @USASF has a FB account so maybe they have been reading. Whoever it is hasn't posted since May so I'm not sure if they are still on here. I think we may all be jumping to conclusions here. Everyone take a deep breath and hopefully we'll get more details soon.

I think they just trademark these names so no one in direct competition can use them or they have plans for the name but it doesn't leave the board room. I'd like to see what "Varsity Couture" will be one day.

Looks like they also filed for VARSITY on Oct 3. under "Entertainment services in the nature of a television series"

There is a lot going on in Memphis these days.

What I would like to know is what this means for international teams?
A lot of European teams still compete under IFC http://www.ifc-hdqrs.org/
It's a totally different style even to ICU and is still a very high standard, and certain teams still prefer these rules & styles. I can understand ICU's way of thinking, but I don't think they can or have the right to rule the world
e.g.

..I was going to say- How do international teams feel about this? When Varsity was ripping up photos and writing in the burn book..erh, I mean, writing this email- did they consider the teams they're supposedly TRYING to unify? Why do THEY have to change because Varsity's having a pity party, table for 1? Many of the competitions overseas ARE international, strictly for the reason that the continent is small and it's how it has to be..
