I found myself disgusted with the human race at H2O in Ocean City this season (team bonding, not pleasant). I can't even imagine going to the block party. *shudders*

Unfortunately I know more than the half of it. That's why this was no surprise to me.
For the bolded part: Allowing kids to make mistakes is one thing. Watching it and turning a blind eye to it is another. And "kids" can mean a lot of different things. I allow my 17-year-old (soon to be 18:() to make a lot more mistakes now than I did 2 years ago. Not all of these kids we're talking about are 18+ though. Yes, I agree that 17,18,19 is an age where you'll learn more from making some mistakes than someone telling you not to do things. But 15-16? No, you're still going to do what the heck I say.
And as a mom I have to say, glad you're taking so many showers - good hygiene matters. ;)
Actually the security guards are there to babysit and this is the USASF's crowning event. The USASF can suddenly come up with ridiculous rules that were put in place for the "safety" of the athletes, well a drunk fest should be their biggest concern. They can put in place an image rule about males being overly exaggerated, well honey this is one bad image they are portraying. One last note, as a former teen myself, teenagers almost NEVER think about the consequences of their actions. they are all about the here and now!
Ok, why am I arguing with a teen???
Back in the day, when I was an underage teen and we "partied" and got someone to get us alcohol, we did our underage drinking in private, we didn't make a public spectacle of ourselves, nor did we think that we "were owed" as so many teens in this day and age do. Most likely, you won't even realize what life lessons you learned from your parents without having to do it yourself until you are in fact a parent yourself. And I can't remember a single time during my teen years where we felt the need to publicly make fools of ourselves doing something illegal during a sanctioned sporting event. We would have been thrown off the team without a second thought and some coaches probably would have kicked our a$$es.
I was there when that happened! Sad thing is she dropped her vodka bottle out of her purse like 3 times in front of all the kids and was bragging about the prominent gym/team she used to cheer for. Shame she had to tarnish their name along with her own:( Then again Disney is selling beer in th ESPN bar and ouside at 3 different locations at WWoS so they are pretty much promoting drinking at a mostly minor age cheer event:(Its also a shame when someone is so drunk at the venue, and has to be escorted/physically helped out- because they can barely walk - during the competition..time and place people.

I saw the same scenario -only inside a venue, during competition...not referring to the same person - just scenario.
I honestly thought most of the dancing was tasteless and crude, except for me getting in the cage and doing the sprinkler. That's classy. ;) But there was deffinately alcohol there as well. I hated the fact that it was a team bonding thing so we had girls who justed turned 13 in there. Not the type of enviornment I'd ever want to get myself in again.I know RTB used to have a party at the one of the banquet hall H2O while the real H2O was opened in addition to it being Spring break season. My whole team left the RTB party for the actual H20 (snuck in the younger girls who were down for it), no one drank but the deff weren't comp ready at 10 am. I was barley 13 and my parents didn't let me go and I was okay with it. This past Summer my friends went and one of my friends said that on of them whose 15 tops, was drunk in a bikini in the cage.
That's in a actual club for teens so I can only imagine a party at a resort with teens.

It's not just a train wreck. It's a train that caught on fire, lost some wheels, and is falling off a cliff.I have a parent in the law system Id couldn't get away with it. Although I wouldn't mind going just for fun, I love a good train wreck.
I saw this too during the competition. Underage Athletes would compete and then not an hour later be drinking "water" and then chase it with a soda. Very classy.....
Believe this is the first year for this rule. Haven't heard any word yet on if it has or has not been enforced.
