I was going to say that if the payment was processed through PayPal, you could still go through PayPal. But given what SL&AM said about custom orders, that might not work either. It might be worth a try through PayPal anyway, if you paid with them? Or your Credit card company? The worst they can do is decline the claim.

I don't know. Just trying to think of ways to possibly help you out. Hopefully you get some resolution somehow.

The credit card company types gives 90-180 days too so I'd definitely go through them if the time hasn't run out yet @schpo

Oh it's definitely run out. I ordered and paid in January 2014. Thanks though.

Unlike you, however, my situation would have been a quick fix. Here's what I would have done: Acknowledge the mistake. Sew a skort (she already has a pattern, I'm sure) then pop it in the mail. Don't even ask for the shorts back. Boom - customer satisfied. But she chose not to approach it that way.

I encountered a GREAT Etsy who did this for me. The first time I ordered CP a sports bra from her, she accidentally sent the wrong color. She apologized and sent out the correct color the same day I contacted her and told me to keep the first one with her apologies. I ordered from her again, but this time she had a size listed in a certain style that she ended up not having. So she told me if I was okay with picking a different style, she would send a custom matching bow with it free of charge. I always check her shop first for cheer gifts now.

I had the same experience with a very expensive table I recently purchased. It arrived damaged, so I contacted the company I purchased it from. The damage wasn't super noticeable, one of the corners was dented. They apologized and told me to keep the table until the new one arrived. Then I could donate or do whatever else I wish with the damaged table.

THAT's how you retain customers. I have spent hundreds in the first Etsy shop and thousands in the furniture shop because I know I will receive exactly what I want. And if I don't, it will be corrected immediately.

And taking longer to make a doll uniform than a real person uniform is ridiculous. If this business owner is so behind in her work that she is sending things out months later than promised, then it is time to stop accepting orders until she catches up. Then, once caught up, she needs to figure out how many orders she can reasonably keep up with at a time. If she can't do that after however many years she has been in business, then she is walking the line between being a legitimate business owner and a scam artist.

Sadly, Etsy is designed to protect the scam artist. They only way to "win" a dispute when you have not received your item is to give up all rights to leave feedback against a company since it was "resolved". I once decided to forgo getting money so I could warn others that it was six months beyond the date promised and I still have not received my product.

So glad I came across this thread! I was about to order doll uniforms from her for our pro shop! When I contacted her she said the uniforms would be $175.00 each and she was taking orders now! I was like ummmm no! However we have found someone that is charging way less for the same service and actually has great reviews and ratings!!

One of my athletes just received her dolls uniform today. Looks pretty good from the picture - too bad she ordered and paid in August 2014. Yes, you read that right. It took 15 months for her to receive what she paid for. This lady is a scam artist

That's ridiculous. With that turnaround, your kid may not even be CHEERING ANYMORE by the time you get the uniform.

I let dh use my seller's account to auction off a set of reel to reel tapes we had lying around. I should have known something was up when the buyer asked for me to send them "media mail" because it was cheaper. I did but I also got insurance and registered mail (that does have a tracking number) because it was $300 worth of tapes. A few weeks later (after USPS notified me it had been delivered) he filed a Paypal claim saying he never got the tapes. I disputed it and sent Paypal the proof it had been delivered, they still refunded his money and came after me for the $300.
So now I do not sell anything through Ebay without it being priority mail, no exceptions. If you can't afford the shipping then you don't get the item.

PayPal is the worst. My account was hacked and the person spent $5000. I caught it when I saw the emails from PayPal a couple of hours after, and they already couldn't stop the transactions. I had to spend $25 for my bank to put a stop payment on all PayPal transactions. It took them two months to "investigate" and get my PayPal account back to a zero balance.

Yikes. Would you say that PayPal is good overall, and just crappy when dealing with hacking?

And was there a zero balance in your account to begin with?

I have a friend that works in banking and he said debit cards are the worse thing. That having a credit card and paying it off monthly is the best choice for online or really any purchases where you would use a debit for this reason. He basically spends all day dealing with this problem and will frequently post on his Facebook encouraging people to not use their bank cards online.

I've never had any other problems with PayPal, so I guess yes. I don't have any other experience with their customer service though. Yes, I had a zero balance and hadn't even used it in a long time so I'm not sure why they weren't alerted to suspicious activity.

This wasn't related to my debit card, my PayPal was connected directly to my bank account. Using a debit card is better than PayPal because you can cancel the card to stop any future unauthorized payments and my bank wouldn't have charged me for doing a stop payment. But I agree, if you can stay out of trouble with a credit card, that is even better.

Yes! If someone steals your debit card, they can wipe out your bank account and you'll have to fight with your bank to get it back. If someone steals your credit card, you still might have to fight with your credit card to get the charges cancelled, but usually you don't have to pay those charges until the issue is resolved and they're not touching your bank account directly. There's an extra layer of protection.
